Furniture

The furniture in our restaurant will be mostly African themed while the exterior dining area and the walls will use Middle Eastern designs. Most of the featured colors will be warm colors like red and orange in order for it to gain the charismatic atmosphere associated with Africa and the Middle East. African designs tend to be based more around patterns with alternating thick and thin lines and have a geometric look to it, as shown in the table below.

We recognize that both in Middle Eastern and African culture, they value family and kinship ties, so in order to promote this, we have many large tables to accommodate large parties, or families so they can all sit by each other.

Plate Design

Since the Middle East uses very ornate patterns. So we will tap into that and use it for our plates and other small utensils in order to cause it to interact with the patrons and cause a more interesting atmosphere.

Color Scheme

Our color scheme will consist of warm, earthy, rich tones, characteristic in African culture and in their art. Middle Eastern art and decor tends to include a wider array of lively colors compared to Africa, so the blue is added as an accent color to compliment the orange tones and brighten up our palette, to encourage our lively/ hip but intimate atmosphere.

Middle Eastern architecture is known for its sculpted high ceilings covered with ornate design, which will be reflected in the main entry way of our restaurant, however it will use colors that match our color scheme and won't be quite as large.

Exterior Dining

In order for our guests to enjoy a wonderful sunset we will have an outdoor patio that will be styled like the one below. The overhead structure allow for a waterproof canvas to be stretched over it and shield our patrons and the equipment from rain.

In order to further connect to the themes of African and Middle Eastern color and atmosphere, there will be a tree similar to the one below as an unique decorative and majestic feature of our restaurant. The animistic religions in Africa place a great emphasis on respecting nature, so we wanted to include an aspect of that in our design. Islam's concept of how humanity interacts with and views nature throughout history has led to "many sciences that were influential in the West’s own development of science and yet did not disturb Islam’s intellectual edifice."
