One important focus for all our schools is focusing on useful/important skills/knowledge. Many build a portrait of a graduate or profile of a learner to name the skills students will learn, practice, and be able to use in all classes, in and out of school. Here’s one of many examples, from Washington State.

Most students need to learn how to budget, and or real life stuff. Instead of learning about unnecessary things that won't help us in our life. Some of the stuff is important like math and ela but there is no point is social studies.

I think some skills most students want to have is feedback and to be curious asking beneficial questions.

learning about how to prepare you for jobs like how to handle money, how to use business strategies, learning how to present and using things that real jobs might ask you to do such as make a portfolio is something I think is pretty valuable to learn. Of course it's also important to learn things like sciences, math, and reading since I feel like those are the most important.

Something we agreed with strongly was what proficiency looks like in being able to communicate, engage in discussions with others. This is something we prioritize both in high school and recognize we'll use outside of high school a lot.

Knowledge skill not needed

I believe social studies, science, and music aren't important because the only way to progress with those fields is to go further in them, Highschool knowledge teaches you the basic level but they aren't the most needed skills which could be swapped out with finance, budgets, and taxes.

Art is an important skill and should be connected to all subjects.
