This makes me think of how bad Jews were treated and how they have to wear this just cause they're a little different and they have to wear this so everybody knows what they are so people can make fun of the jews. I think that they had to wear this in the book so then they would know who going to the ghetto. But I wonder why the gypsies don't have to wear one. This photo reminds me of the time when Missha and some of the other guys got found and were forced into the ghetto and there were big scary guards or in the book better known as a jackboot with their big tall black boots and black outfits.
