Tea is similar to coffee in the aspect that it contains caffeine and thus makes the person who consumed it more productive. However, in Europe, it did not become the dominant drink. Of course, it became a drink infused with British culture (i.e. tea parties, tea time, ect...) however the fact of the matter is, most people could not afford tea when it arrived in Europe, but they could afford coffee.
