My values and ethics when it comes to my career and studies is passion. As a child development major and a preschool teacher my passion is helping children reach their full potential. Another is commitment, I am always committed to ensure safety and positive well-being to every student. Professionalism is another core value, I work alongside many teachers and we all may have different values but it is important for me to stay professional and be a great collaborator with them.

I work at a child care center and the supervisor who is in charge of the head start is very professional and amazing at her job. I look at her and say that’s the person I want to embody when I reach that level. She is able to always stay professional and be charismatic. She knows every child in that site, even the children she isn’t assigned too. As a supervisor she is hands-on and dedicates her time to the children when I know she has a lot of work on her hands. She’s well rounded and able to juggle a lot of work at once while she interacts and plays with the children. She is great listener and also gives great constructive criticism. She holds herself in such a great manner that you also listen to her and what she has to say.

What I haven’t liked is a supervisor who is the exact opposite. A supervisor who only stays in their office and never checks up on the children and classrooms. A supervisor who isn’t professional and is very strict and rude to everyone.

What I’d like My Day-to-Day Work Life to be Like

I would like to have my own office and have children come to me individually so I can provide them counseling. I wouldn't mind if their parents came in either so I could also provide the parents counseling if they needed some as well. I would then like to have some time to myself to finish paper work in a quiet setting where I wont be bothered.

A skill I am humbly have is being a skilled collaborator with my coworkers. Working in a classroom with two other adults has taught me to listen to others and perform well in group work.

Knowledge I want to learn is more psychology on children and counseling classes to assist children mentally. Training I’ve always wanted to take a CPR class and more behavior support training classes. In Education I want to pursue my masters in counseling in the future and licensing in therapy.
