1) What has it been like for us during lockdown?
Being in lockdown was very difficult to get used to, however after some time it became enjoyable to be able to spend time doing what you love most without feeling guilty for neglecting other areas of life (e.g. work and stress). Although, when things started to open back up such as shops, workplaces and restaurants, it seemed as though coming back to the real world took as much getting used to as originally going into lockdown did. Not only this, but being in lockdown definitely made me appreciate the things I took for granted before, ultimately leading me to believe it was a positive experience overall, even if difficult at times.
2) What has it been like arriving at university?
Arriving at university has been far from expected, and in terms of meeting others socially, very difficult. When following the government rules it is extremely difficult to meet anyone except your flatmates. As a flat of four this means interaction with a variety of people from different courses, and places almost impossible.
3) What are our needs/concerns?
My primary concern is not being able to meet with people on my course which would have been helpful to discuss psychology topics and recommend extra reading for example. Especially due to the new lockdown rules within Leeds which restrict you from meeting anyone in your household.
4) What do we know we can do well in relation to learning and studying?
Despite the limitations of lectures being pre-recorded and held online, I think there are some benefits to this such as being able to rewind and pause certain parts if we find something more difficult/harder to understand. This, I believe, allows for a more well rounded and in depth knowledge of certain topics as everyone has individual strengths and weaknesses and being able to cater to your own needs will be beneficial.

1- What has it been like for us during lockdown?
Lockdown was an overall positive experience for me. After the first couple of weeks adjusting to being at home constantly with nothing to I developed a routine and began to really enjoy the experience. I was placed on furlough for nearly 5 months and I enjoyed having time to myself and being able to spend more time with my family which normally isn't possible with everyones busy schedules. The experience made me appreciate things I previously took for granted, such as being able to go see grandparents and friends and going out shopping and to a restaurant.
2- What has it been like arriving at university?
I decided to stay living at home during my first year of university as I only live a short distance.
3- What are out needs and/or concerns?
My concern for university being online is that I will struggle to make new friends and I will miss out on the social aspect of university. Due to me living at home I do not have the opportunity to meet anyone on my course or people also studying at the university.
4- What do we know we can do well in relation to learning and studying?
I believe there are many positives to online learning. Such as, we have the ability to pause and rewind lectures if we don't understand the first time we watched it.

Task 1
1) what has it been like for us during lockdown? Lockdown wasn't difficult for me it happened around the time that I would have left college anyway so I was already prepared for a break in studying and not being able to see friends everyday. I kept myself busy and enjoyed having no work pressures.
2)What has it been like arriving at university? It seems like we've missed out on the typical university arrival experience we don't have a chance to meet many of our peers outside of our accommodation.
3)What are our needs/concerns?
Our social life has been greatly effected having no events, no societies and not being able to meet others on our course, it doesn't really feel like I'm at university like I am still waiting for it to start. Meeting people virtually helps if you already know the person and are friends with them but meeting new people virtually isn't the same experience.
4)What do we know we can do well in relation to learning and study?
Working independently can be quite effective for some areas of the course and having the opportunity to re-watch lectures and at more convenient times for us it has in some ways made studying more flexible being able to study at our own pace.

University of Oxford

Hedonic- Emotional Hedonic well-being refers to a lack of negative emotion and the presence of positive emotions, Oxford university push on peer support as it is “supporting and encouraging”. Peers are able to support one another because they are sharing very similar experiences and therefore can relate to one another and provide advice. Moreover students may feel more safe expressing feelings to one another without “the fear of betraying trust”. This is a helpful tiP for students as they are likely to open up to someone of the same age and sharing the same expierences.
