By doing this, UWG wants to be able to have some control over the amount of students that enter and leave the residence halls.

-Joshua Scroggins

The Torchbearer's Creed is a common value instilled into all students, summarized "one that bears the torch casts themselves in shadow to provide light to others." The Torchbearer is a constant beacon of light and many students take photos of or with the Torchbearer to share their commitment and love for the university.

Grace Wilson

UNC Charlotte's mascot is Norm the Miner. Here he can be seen panning for gold. He was chosen as a mascot because UNCC was established during the gold rush of 1949. This statue is located at the front of campus as you drive in the entrance. Many students take pictures with the statue upon graduation. For a long time standing near the statue was "off limits" so getting a picture almost became a challenge/right of passage.

Ally DeLucia

The Botanical Gardens on UNC Charlottes campus make up 10+ acres of beautiful outdoor landscaping and scenery. Though the gardens were originally for biology students to study plants and plant growth, they have become a place for students to relax, destress, and enjoy the outdoors. Any time I needed to take a deep breath and get away from school or extracurricular stress, I went to the Botanical Gardens.

Ally DeLucia

Lecture halls are made to limit the amount of interactions between students but maximize the probability the student has at paying attention to the professor and lecture because they are the focus of the room. The chairs are bolted to the desks and all of the desks fan out to face the front of the room equally. This represents a non-synomorphic atmosphere.

Students and parents, once entering the admissions offices of schools should plan to wait no matter the objective for coming. Therefore admissions lobbies are created and designed to be an area of comfort so that people are less upset for the wait they are about to experience, creating a servicescape.
