         <description><![CDATA[<div>Photosynthesis&nbsp; and Cellular Respiration are like each other, but only in reverse.</div><div>Photosynthesis uses the reactants (ingredients) carbon dioxide and water, which using sunlight for energy, produces (product) sugar and oxygen. Cellular respiration uses the reactants (ingredients) oxygen and sugar, not using energy, to produce (product) carbon dioxide and water.</div><div><br></div><div>Photosynthesis takes place in the chloroplast. The chloroplast is an important part of photosynthesis because it has a part called chlorophyll. Chlorophyll captures the sunlight and uses it for energy. It takes in carbon dioxide and water and turns it into glucose and oxygen. The equation for photosynthesis is 6co2 (carbon dioxide) plus 6ho2 (water), using sunlight for energy, produces c6h12o6 (glucose) and 6o2 (oxygen).</div><div><br></div><div>Cellular respiration takes place in the mitochondria. The mitochondria is an important part because it is where all of the energy is made. Cellular respiration is the act of a plant using oxygen and glucose to make carbon dioxide, water, and a special type of chemical energy called ATP energy. The formula for cellular respiration is 6o2 (oxygen) plus c6h12o6 (glucose), not using energy, produces 6h2o (water) and 6co2 (carbon dioxide).</div><div><br></div><div>There are several differences between photosynthesis and cellular respiration. One difference is that photosynthesis takes in carbon dioxide and water and releases oxygen and glucose whereas cellular respiration takes in oxygen and glucose and releases carbon dioxide and water. Another difference is that photosynthesis has to have sunlight to work but cellular respiration doesn’t. Photosynthesis relies on sunlight for energy but cellular respiration doesn’t. One other difference is that photosynthesis occurs in the chloroplasts but cellular respiration occurs in the mitochondria. The reason cellular respiration takes place in the mitochondria is because the mitochondria provides energy for the cell and cellular respiration makes ATP energy.</div><div><br></div><div>There are several similarities between photosynthesis and cellular respiration is that they both have water, sugar, oxygen, and carbon dioxide in their equations. Another similarity is that both can be performed in plants. One other similarity is they are needed for all living things to survive.<br><br>In conclusion, we all need photosynthesis and cellular respiration to live. Although these tasks are opposites, they are important.</div>]]></description>
