As a minority living in the U.S.A, I usually feel indiiferent in my environment while being surrounded with others of same or different skin color. In today's society all of us are mostly treated equal regardless of our exterior, however sometimes people bring up stereotypes that hurt me in a certain way. That stereotype is called the Model Minority and it means that Asians are expected to be good at everything they do. To others this might seem like a compliment, however this stereotype that society has created placed pressure on me because my parents also follow this rule, expecting me to be the best, but if I keep forcing myself to be the best and let the stress get to me, then my overall performance in my work will deteriorate.

Being a minority I am given less opportunities to do as I desire. Due to my ethnicity/race being more accepted in the u.s the favor and privilege of other races still occurs in certain situations. Being a minority can make me feel out of place as I could somehow be placed in a room, being the only person who is colored. Overall it’s cool to stick out in society but being a minority kinda sucks.

As a minority here in America, I feel more unique compared to the dominant white community in the country. Although it may have some setbacks when it comes to being more different in the crowd, the uniqueness in my culture has made me proud that I, as an American citizen, have foreign blood and being constantly admired by other people on the different cultures we both have in our families. Along with the upsides on what it’s like to be a minority, the downsides can cause some harm to who I am as a human being. As the dominant community would first see me as the color of my skin and my ethnicity instead of any other human being, there would be limited opportunities for me to strive through a country that’s built up on diversity, but still be restricted to prosper myself on achieving my dreams on who I want to be in the future. Overall, my life as being a part of the minority contributes to my individuality greatly as a person of color.

Well being a minority in the United States can be difficult but it can be easy at the same time. I think that the major challenge that minorities such as immigrants face is about language and the fact that they are immagrants and also race. Language is something really important in America as the main language spoken is English. This could be a challenge anywhere, trying to communicate can be very hard when you cant communicate through speaking. Many places now speak other major languages such as spanish, but in some cases when youre not somewhere like a store. It can be quite difficult trying to communicate to a civilian. In texas thats not too much of a challenge i face as i can also speak English but to my parents it really is. But something that affects both me and my parents is that prople judge alot. There are racist people and people that have a problem with immigrants. Sometimes we are not treated nicely. And white people usually have the advantage over many things. Now being a minority in America can be challenging but i have found out that in our area its less challenging. But in other places it could be drastically different.

Well in retrospective, I don't exactly see what people have said about "discrimination against minorities." Personally, in my 14 years alive, I have not seen something like that occur here in America. To me being a minority in America is just a label society put on us to make us seem separated from others. My life is practically the same as any other persons life "minority" or not.

Everyone’s experience varies. For me, sometimes it’s hard being singled out because people just know I’m different. Other times, I embrace my differences, loving my unique view of the world and how few are like me in the world.

While the U.S. is slowly becoming a majority-minority country, I’ve dealt with racism all of my life and will continue to deal with it. Being a minority in the United States is what makes this country diverse and amazing, you just have to keep an open mind.
