The reason we decided to pursue this topic is because we all felt it was relatable to everyone. Our group consists of; Louise, Alex, Jacob, James, Ben, Harvey, Rachel, Tom and Me. I felt when we were put into our groups I felt like we had a great mixer or talent and creative ideas for our piece. 
So in today's lesson we create a concrete plan of the whole performance, and we wrote it done and took a picture of it. The hardest part of this lesson was putting ideas and suggestions together, as one point everyone was talking over each other and it became very chaotic, so we had to sit down in a circle and take time and listern to each other one by one, this helped us take time to actually listern and put out own opion/idea to anothers input. And from this all of us gained a chance to have our moment to talk to the group. 
Our plan next lesson is to create our first scene for our montage Gender piece

  • Colours e.g. Pink + Blue
  • Are kids toys Gender subjective?
  • Are we one gender ?
  • Can we be both genders?

  • The way we went about preparing this piece for the performance was very stressful and rushed, because at the beginning we all lacked the energy and enthusiasm. Another thing we did was talk to much, as we would spend each lesson talking about the work too much like the quote "to much talk not enough action" so we had this slight problem. I think we had this problem because people didn't want to do the work, as they felt it was a great idea but didn't feel very creatively about the piece/idea. 
  •  I personally feel like our performance went rather well, due to the fact at the beginning we all lacked the enthusiasm and creativity for the subject. Also everyone knew their lines, everyone was where they were meant to be. The reason for this is because during our rehearsal we had a very clear concrete idea of the order and the blocking (not so much on the creativity) but everyone was confident and comfortable with this piece. 
  •  I believe our performance catered our audience rather well, as I spoke to some people they said they felt sorry for Chelsea Manning and thought and that's exactly what we wanted to achieve. As we wanted to shred some light on Chelsea and her struggles through this dark period of her life. Then my friend Luke Riley can up to me and said that he really liked the piece, he added "he understands what we have done and felt a strong connection with Chelsea and felt really sorry for her. Then I believe we catered to the audience very well and I'm proud of us.
  • I believe the strongest aspects of our piece of work was the very strong foundation which was The Chelsea Manning Case, the reason i say this is because when we approach Verbatim Theater we all were very much walking on egg shells as we all have never done it before. So when the opportunity came around to do a storytelling piece we only felt like we had to get a real story for our to expand upon.
  • The improvements that i would make is to not waste any precious time of devising/rehearsing. The reason i say this is because at the beginning every moment counts especially when coming up with scenes for our piece. So if we were to do something like this again i would encourage my fellow classmates to get on with the work at hand. 
  • throughout this whole experience i have learnt that; patience, tolerance, being a leader and Helping others. 
    1. So i learnt good patience, as some people was not in a lot or they didn't know their lines even before the week of the show. However i learned that everyone takes their time on learning lines and remembering all the blocking. 
    2. Then tolerance, some people in our group as some were not as productive as others. This caused some tension between our group as people were getting annoyed at the less productive people (including myself) However I`ve learnt that i need to be not so harsh and try and tolerant cause some people might have rough lives or something on their mind. 
    3. Relating back to Tolerance point i learnt to be a leader, when Ben or James weren`t in i felt that i needed to step up and take control of the group by keeping them motivated and on task. 
    4. lastly Helping others, i believe naturally i like to help people with problems outside of College, so helping others by giving feedback helped me see a new perspective on helping others
