Ralph is the main protagonist whilst jack is the main antagonist. deaths and injuries occur in the island. William Golding depicts a dystopian society with the use of real life examples. The main topic of the story is the "beast" who is just a figment of imagination in the children's minds.

A soliloquy is a monologue in which a character in a play expresses thoughts and feelings while being alone on stage.

A monologue is a long speech recited by one actor during a play. A soliloquy is a type of monologue. Therefore a monologue is basically the genre.

An aside is a short speech from a character that is spoken directly to the audience. The other actors on set can physically hear the words, but they pretend as if nothing was said.
