Sometimes, when I read two or more books by the same author, I compare them, and see how similar/different they are. For example, let's focus on two books by Jenny Han, called "Shug" and "To All The Boys I've Loved Before."
The two stories are about a girl, who falls in love with a guy. Although the ages and experiences are different, their thoughts are very similar. Both Lara Jean and Annemarie (aka Shug) look up to their big sisters (Celia and Margot), think they're not as beautiful as someone else (Genevive and Celia), have a much-cooler-more-confident-and-popular-than-them-BFF (Chris and Elanie), fake that they like the most popular boy in school for what they think is a good reason (Peter and Kyle), and both aren't popular and stay at home watching TV on Fridays and Saturdays. so...... you get the point😉

even though I compared these two books, I still think the same goes for any two books written by the same author. maybe the stories are completely different, but still, if you look really close you'll most likely find similar phrases or characters. I hope this post inspired you!

Inspiration is everywhere. Outside, inside, in books, movies, on the internet, etc. Sometimes, inspiration is good, and sometimes it's bad. This week, my friend and I found some good inspiration on the internet. Here's how we found it (includes recipe!): we were looking for cookie recipes on the internet, and we found this recipe that we liked and so, we opened it in a new tab. We were looking at the recipe, to see if we had all of the ingredients, when suddenly, an ad popped up. We were about to press "skip add" when suddenly my friend said "ewwwww! look at what he's putting on those cookies!" I looked at the add, and saw, to my surprise, that he was putting some weird greenish powder. After three seconds, he turned it into a complete piece of art! He cut it and shaped it. We were watching, mesmerized, at how he turned making cookies, into making artwork. After we watched him for 10 minutes straight, our brains were buzzing with inspiration. We chose some of the easiest stuff he made, and made them our own. In the end, after three hours of hard work, our cookies turned out great! (press here for a link for the cookies, and if you scroll down a little bit you'll see the add, too)
I hope this post inspired you!

word of the week:
(I'm going to do a word of the week section to every post now. the word is any new word I learnt this week)
perspiring = sweat

example:
I perspired really badly when I ran the whole marathon.

this week, a book that I've been really looking forward to came out. but, let's just say It's not exactly what I've been expecting for the past ten months of waiting for it to come out. It was all I thought about, all I've dreamed about, and all I drew about. and when it finally came out, I couldn't help but bursting into teares when I first skimmed it. why? because It wasn't a book. It was a book, and it was filled with words and drawings, but these words and drawings---- they were maps, color pages, and a 200 page long previously on the rest of the series. I was really dissapointed. so I talked it through with some friends, family members and teachers, and this was the solution we all agreed on: to write to shannon messenger a letter. so I did. annd this is how it came out:
Dear Shannon Messenger,

Hi! My name is Hallel Stark and I recently moved to Jerusalem from New York. I am in 5th grade and I love to read and draw. I’m a huuuuuuuuge Keeper fan, (and a Fitzphie Shipper) and I wanted to let you know how much your books mean to me. (Let’s just say I’m on fandom, I made tons of fanarts. I reread the series so many times my books have cracks in them, and everyone who truly knows me has gotten a hundred book recommendations about them.) As I was saying, KOTLC means so much to me, that waiting for book 8.5 has been really hard. I started counting the days left ten months before it came out. I pre-ordered it as soon as I moved and got the address of my new house, and it hasn’t left my mind for as long as I can remember!

With that background, I’m going to be honest. I have to say I was more than a little disappointed with the 8.5 book. Maybe I just got my expectations too high, but I was kind of hoping it would be a regular book. I really do love the books, and with that cliffhanger you left us on, I was hoping for something unique, but not completely different from the other books. (Between us, at first I thought there was no actual book and only maps and recipes and stuff and I actually cried.)

Beyond the format, I also was confused by the plot. I started reading the book from Keefe's point of view, and Sophie's character changed in my imagination completely. Keefe’s also did. And, wait, why are Sophie and Fitz not back together again? If they don’t get together in the next book, I don’t know what I’m going to do! I was really glad you included some of the details in the beginning, though, because it was pretty hard to remember some of the story lines.

Is the next book going to be a full one? I hope so! Is there a possibility of including a drawing of the simbol Sophie drew in the next book? I would love it if you did that. It’s a little hard of imagining a drawing of something that you don’t know how it actually looks like. Also, have you considered making a KOTLC movie? I think a lot of fans would *love* that (including me!) I hope that you will be able to find someone to work with you and create a film that is true to your story (if you do decide to do it).

Below is some of my fanart (as you can see not all of them are done). The first one is a portrait of Biana blowing a kiss. The second is a portrait of Sophie., The third is Sophie, when Vertina told her to put her hair in a bun. Next, is a portrait of Linh, with a flower in her hair. The sixth one is also Linh, this time escaping ravagog. The final one (the seventh) is a picture of Sophie and Fitz under Calla’s panakes tree (this one is not done yet).

I would like to tell you how much I appreciate your work. I would be less-than-honest, if I didn’t tell you I feel like the 8.5 book is missing so much for those who enjoy your ideas and stories. Please consider a full story as your next project!

Thank you for your time,

Hallel

If you want to see the pictures too, click here
so my goal this week is to get my hopes up, but if they don't happen, not to be dissapointed but to move on. it's good to get your hopes up, and to hope people will do stuff, but everyone are responsible for their own actions, and you can't decide what other's actions will be.
thanks for reading!

word of the week:
caper = dance

example:
he did a little caper, which for some reason made us both crack up

this week, I was overflowing with assigments. (I still am) I learned that It's okay to be overflowing with assigments, but you have to learn how to handle them. to get rid of most assigments, (without cheating, of course!😁) I usually do the things below. I hope this list will help you, too!

Hallel's 5 steps of getting rid of assigments:
1) gather all the time you need to finish the assigments, don't postpone it to later... or the later wil become a never!
2) make a list of the assigments you have to do, with checkboxes, and every time you finish an assigment, cross it off the list
3) list the assigments in order, from the assiment that is most important/due soonest to the least.
4) make sure you have an ordered workspace, without any interruptions with everything you need, and (optional) if it's a project you have to listen to, wear headphones, or make sure your microphone works well.
5) take a seat, and start finishing assiments and crossing them off your list!

now.... If you'll ecscuse me, I better cross the 'adding a post to my weekly inspired posts' off my list and get to work! bye!
hope this post inspired you!
Hallel

word of the week:

Antique - an object that has a value because of how old it is

example:
We went to the antique store to buy her a rare jewel from Queen Elizabeth the First’s crown, because she loved antique royal objects.

this week, it was hanukkah, and I wanted to bake sufganiyot, but at first, I wasn't sure I was able to. I was scared that they wouldn't turn out so good, or burned, or even too oily. at first, things really didn't go well, just like I expected. the yougurt was expired, the proportions were too little, and we ran out of jam. but slowly I started to get the hang of it, and after a few tries, I managed to get some of them done really nicely. another problem that I had along the way, was while I was turning the sufganiot, I wanted try one of them, and so I did. I took a huge bite---- and it took me a few seconds to relize that the whole inside was undone. It was absolutley disgusting. so I checked a few others (this time by sticking a toothpick in, not risking putting them in my mouth again) and found out that they all had the same problem. I was really confused, because on one hand, they were turning a really pretty golden shade, and I didn't want them to get burnt, but on the other hand, the inside was so undone, it was horrible just trying it. I didn't know what to do. so I looked the problem up, and turns out the solution was to put them all back in for about 6-7 more minutes, but on really low. and that pretty much did it. after a few minutes, the kitchen started smelling of them, then the house, then the whole building. And that's how I sucseeded making the sufganiot this chanukka, even though I thoghut it was impossible.

this week, I did some reasearch, and found my favorite singer's (Ariana grande) backround story. at first, when I heard her song called '7 rings' and she kept saying "I want it, I've got it." I thought her life must be perfect. but turns out I was wrong. big time. wanna know what I figured out? here's a list of some of the horrible that happened in her life:

when ariana was 8 years old, her parents got a divorce

she was bullied in school

her grandpa died of cancer after she dropped her 2nd album

over 20 people died at a concert of her's when there was a suicide bombing, and many many more severely injured. ariana got blamed for this even though she had nothing to do with it.

her ex boyfriend and best friend Mac miller had an accidental overdose and died while they were still very in touch.

she had a heart attack when she found out he died and Pete, who she was engaged to at the time, had to take her to the hospital immediately.

she broke off the engagement with pete because she still loved mac.

she gets a ton of hate everyday

I was so shocked and surprised to figure out all of those facts! but it taught me a lesson: never judge people because of how they look, or sound. the truth about them might surprise you.
so my week's goal is to not be quick with judging people, and to give them the chance before I actually judge them.

link to the song I first heard (click here!)
I hope this post inspired you!

(edit: for anyone intererested, she (ariana) got engaged 20 hours ago🥰😁😂...!)

dubbing

this week I had two dubbing assignments, and I think it's a great opportunity everyone should have. It's really fun, and it helps us get into the character we choose to dub. in my case, our group chose to dub boss baby. we got into character really quickly, and most of us remembered our lines on our first try. I got to be baby boss!👶🏻👶🏻👶🏻I was doing it with some of my friends, and It was really really fun (look below to see. it's a file, so I couldn't link it like I always do). my other assignment was to make up words for a video, and a little bit like writing a play, but with the scene already made. that got me really creative, and the video I had to do was lion king (click here to see!) I made Simba practicing a dance skill, and Mufasa showing him how to. I never really thought of it that way, that we can just lower the volume, and change the story. I actually never thought about dubbing at all I mean, when you're watching a movie, is your first thought 'oh! is this dubbed?' nope! ...well, not for most people. Finally, I learned that most of the time people dub on their own, and then connect it all together. I think we should pay a little more attention to the dubbers! their job is really hard! (especially saying the right things in time!)

I hope this post inspired you!

This week three special events happened. I'll start by telling you about MLK day and finish with the other two. So.... about MLK (Martin Luther King), he was a great man. For anyone who dosen't know, (you probably do but still...😉) he was a black man and he was one of the first people to stand up for black rights and lives. After he said one of his most important speech people started to respect him. Even though he went to jail several times, he was a great man. Sadly, he was shot by a white man who didn't agree with him, and now we have a special day to remember him. I think we should learn three lessons from him.

Never give up on your hopes and dreams (MLK said in one of his most famous speeches “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”)

Don't judje people by how they look, they don't have a choice in that.

If you don't agree with someone, don't express it in a harsh way, (definetly don't kill them!) but just ignore thir opinion or tell them you don't agree politely.

the second special thing that happened this week was.... NATIONAL POPCORN DAY! 🍿🍿🍿 yes, it is not something I made up, (and if you have to make sure I am definetly not making it up click here!) so as I was saying, I figured out there was a national popcorn day. I got to work immediately, and made popcorn. I didn't do microwave popcorn or the snack popcorn, but I took a pot, poured some oil, and the corn seeds and patiently waited for the seeds to pop. after a minute, one did. then another. then three more. then so many more I couldn't count them all! it was like they were fighting on getting to the top! after we made the popcorn we started a new series we wante to watch, and cuddled on my bed.
finally, the fire🔥🔥🔥. the fire?! mm hmm. let's begin with my story. on friday night, we lit the candles two minutes after we started heating the house for the first time (we think it had something to do with it). we were reading and lying down after a long week of hard work when sudennly we heard explosions. we were'nt scared, we thought it was something usual, maybe someone was building something outside. the explosions were sounding closer and closer until--- darkness. al the lights turned off. we were really scared and freaked out, and then my dad saw a ton of sparks outside, and the streetlight caught on fire. we called 911 immediately, and after 3 minutes they turned out the fire. meanwhile, since it was a streetlight, and it's really dangerous to put water on electricty, me and my family were all standing on a small carpet in my sister's bedroom scared to death. turned out the whole street had no power, and we were stuck in the ark for the next four hours as they said. it took waaaaaaay longer than that, thoug. more like seven hours... but, we still ate shabbat dinner, with candles an the soup that my mom heate before shabbat was still hot. we played with shadows and everyone slept together that night wow! what a story! yes, it really did happen! and the rest of our shabbat was great, too.
I hope this post inspired you!

This week, since it is my 10th blog, I wanted to surprise everyone with something special. So, since this week it was my cousin's birthday and my dad's birthday, I decided to make them eaxh a really big surprise party. How? First of all, I started by making the cake. I got all the ingredients the week before, and then it was time to bake the cake. I started pouring all the ingredients in one by one, eggs, baking soda, cocoa, sugar... wait-- sugar?! We were out of sugar. The last night we where baking challas and we finished it all. I decided to use sweet cocoa powder instead. I was also missing two other ingredients, (flower and sweet cream) but I managed, and my cake turned out great. I did learn from my mistake and added those ingredients to the shopping list... after that I decorated a box and hid the cake in it. when we saw each other me and my family started to sing happy birthday and we had a picnic together. as for my dad's cake? well, I made the cake, and put it in the oven. I wantes this cake to be taller, so I made double the batch, and put it in a smaller yet taller baking pan. when it was time to take it out, the fork wouldn't go all the way down without ruining the cake, but it came out dry, so I assumed it was ready and took it out. I turned it upside down, and startedg pounding on the cake so it would come out, and it did but... it wasn't done. the top/bottom was gooey and definetly not cooked. I put it in for another 30 minutes until it was 100% done, but when I took it out, it was crumbling and terrible (yet delicious!) so I made the crumbles into cake pops (from my other cousin's advice) and made the cake all over again, this time doing everything as best as I could and it came out great. I frosted it carefully, with light pink flowers and the number 37 in white frosting. it came out great. since my dad only came back home at 12:15 (at night!!) I made my mom promise to wake me and my sisters up in time to surprise him. and so she did. and when it was time we all screamed "surprise!"

cakes:
(to see first cake click here!)
(to see the second cake click here!)

word of the week:
shebang - the whole thing.

example:
instead of reading the wole shebang, some people only read one volume.

last week I couldn't write a blog, so this week I'm going to do two in one! okay, let's get started...

story #1:
last week it was purim!!! we were all so excited! after a lot of thinking, I decided on being a woman from the 80's. I found a great costume online and my grandma helped me find a great hat I liked. I was about to order my costume when I relized... oh no! it was a translated website, so it's not in israel and wouldn't arrive in time! I was so dissapointed and searched for hours for a similar dress, even a simple one, but no luck. when my friend told me she didn't think of a costume yet, 4 days before purim, we decided to do one together. we talked on the phone for two hours strait, and still couldn't edcide on one we liked! there where just so many! old ladies, funky guys, cherries, garbage girls, dolls on strings, and so much more. but each one of them just wasn't right.
we decided on going to the mall the next day, maybe we would find something there. we where there for an hour, when an idea poped into my head!
"how about rich girls?" I asked.
"oh my gosh that's PERFECT!"
after that, we were really exited, and we got the hats and jewlery right away from our grandmothers. we video called each other when we got home, to choose our clothes. we also had to change the name of our costume a bit, because my mom thought it was a little inappropriate to dress up as "rich girls" so the name changed to "fancy girls" we went to maxtok (I have litteraly no clue how to spell it in english...🤣) the next day to get fancy scarves and gloves, and after that, our costume was a hundred precent done! two days later it was purim, and it was so FUN!!! everything was colorful, and everyone where dressed up! both capsules where learning together so we could see each other costumes, and we were all playing and laughing together. (to see the costume click here!)

story#2
this week I went to my friend's house on thursday. we went to the playground for a bit, to hang out, when we got a text from our teacher about the new schedule. hebrew... math...judaic studies... parashat shavua.... nothing new.
"hey, when are we supposed to teach the parashat shavua to the class?"
"I dunno. I think maybe in two weeks..."
"what parasha was last week?"
"I really don't know. ours is ki tisa, though."
"Okay. I'm looking it up..."
"so?"
"wait, it's loading--- AH! IT'S THIS WEEK!"
as soon as we relzed it was this week we screamed goodbye to her cousin, ran back to her house, and started working on the slideshow together with some help of her mom, and made all slides. our only problem was how to get modeling clay for the whole class so we can make . we decided to meet the next day at the store and by some. I told my teacher we'll have the lesson on thursday as planned.
"oh, didn't you know? you have to do it tomorrow, because on thursday is my free day. it changed." she told me.
"tomorrow?!"
"yeah. if you can't do it by then it's okay. you can do it by sunday because you didn't know"
"no no no. do you know where we can get modeling clay by tommorow?"
"maybe the school has some. you'll have to see."
"okay... thank you."
we decided to have the slideshow ready in case the school has clay, and if not, we'll buy some after school and do it on on sunday.

-the next day-

we were running in the halls asking every teacher possible if she knows where the art teacher is or if she has some clay. finally, we found some clay, and we did the whole presentation without anything wrong. (click here to see!)

this week, it was our class field trip, ans so everyone went to the zoo. at first, when we got there, we had to find our classes. then, we all sat on the benches and said tephila together. (we were all mostly glancing at the monkeys in the entrace, I have to admit...😏) once we finished, our teacher announced that we would be able to go around freely, wherever we wanted to if we 1) stayed with our small group and 2) completed the assignments we got about the animal. then, she showed everyone the map, and we had 45 minutes to choose our anmal, write a few fun facts about it, and draw it. me and my friends divided up the work, so we can do it faster and have time to see the other animals (I got to draw, of course...😁). after we realized the bears were hibernating and the penguins had a TERRIBLE smell, we chose chipmunks as our animal. once we were done with 25 minutes left to spare, we bumped into four other groups, and decided to stick together. we were walking around the zoo, a few peopple spotted a hill, which was apparently great for rolling down it's grass. my friends taught me how to roll down the hill without getting hurt and I tried rolling too... but the grass was wet and dirty, so after a while everyone stopped. we all drank some water beacuse it was SO HOT and then we got back to where we were supposed to eat and together everybody ate lunch.
then, we had a fun scavager hunt that the teacher prepared, and once we were all finished, we played games and everyone (exept for me) went home. I stayed longer because Ido and chaya were still in the zoo and we all wanted to stay a bit longer. we had lots of fun together.

I hope this post inspired you!

this week, it was pesach!!! me and my sister came over on wensday, to help my grandma get ready for pesach. we walked with my grandpa the usual 6-kilometer-walk, and then we got to their offie after eating breakfast. at somme point, my couisins came too, and my grandma took hlaf of the day off, and at 14:30 we got to work. we did some shopping for all the ingredients we needed, and got home. then, we switche the dishes to the kosher for pesach ones and we put boiling water on the stuff we couldn't switch.then, it got really late, so we saved the actual cooking for tommorow. the next day, we went over the list of recepies we made, (click here to see!)and started cooking.we cut, cooked sifted, fried and baked and made lots of delicious food... but before we knew it, most of it was GONE! were? everyone ate it! so we made more on friday, this time adding more recepies to the mix. we also made desserts, once we had even more helping hands now that the famelies arrived. at the end we had a blast, and the food was great!

this week it was holocaust day. the day before, my teacher taught all the girls in my capsule about the horrors of the holocaust more deeply. we studied and described pictures, read a poem and wrote what we saw. on holocaust day at school, 4th to 6th graders all gathered outside. the sixth graders did a beautiful show about the important day and some people said speeches. at the tzfirah, at 10:00 am everyone stood with their heads bowed. and then after the gatherin was over we went home. the next day, (since it couldn't happen on thursday we did it on friday) my grandma taught the class about the holocaust, how it happened, how the people survived and stuff that happened after the holocaust with pictures, presentations and answers for the questions the kids in my class had. In conclusion, I had a very fascinating and taughtful holocaust day.

I hope this post inspired you!
