He clearly persuades his audience by indicating the importance of natural darkness and Bogard also emphasizes that the world consists of too much artificial light. Within his article, Bogard persuades his readers that too much artificial light is negative by discussing how disruptive artificial light is to humans by causing disease and sleep disorders. On the other hand, Bogard also appeals to the emotions of his readers by noting that inspiration for artists, philosophers, and star gazers was created by experiencing the true darkness of the night sky.

BODY SAMPLE:

Paul Bogard appeals to his reader’s emotions by discussing how natural darkness provides inspiration to people over time. For example, the author mentions Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” was created from the inspiration of natural darkness. Additionally, he mentions how religion requires natural darkness in order to have a peaceful life, which some people would consider “invaluable.” In the article, he writes how the ideas that create inspiration are not as abundant nowadays. “In today’s crowded, louder, more fast-paced world, night’s darkness can provide solitude, quiet, and stillness, qualities increasingly in short supply.” Moreover, more natural darkness is required in order to help people become more inspired. The author truly wants his readers to recognize how important it is to have natural darkness.

Conclusion:

This argument made by the author in his article effectively persuades his audience that natural darkness should be preserved. Bogard also emphasizes that the world consists of too much artificial light. He clearly persuades his audience by indicating the importance of natural darkness. Artificial light negatively affects humans because of diseases and sleep disorders, which could be avoided if there was more true darkness. Although inspiration can be influenced by complete darkness, it is necessary to have some artificial light, but not too much. Therefore, Bogard makes it clear to his readers that true darkness is desired due to positive benefits it promotes.

Same Intro Format: Different Essay:

The civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. builds an argument in his speech “Beyond Vietnam-A Time to Break Silence” to persuade his audience that American Involvement in the Vietnam War is unjust. He clearly persuades his audience by indicating the importance of nonviolence and King also emphasizes that the United States needs to focus on rehabilitation of the poor and race relations rather than the Vietnam War. Within his speech, King persuades his readers that the Vietnam War is not necessary and that there is much more important issues to focus on in America. Furthermore, King also appeals to the emotions of his readers by noting that black and white men are fighting together for a nation that segregated them, and he uses rhetorical questions to show that violence in Vietnam is not the answer the country’s issues.

By using air-conditioning, something that most Americans have in their homes, Klinenberg 🤬 his article using a common appliance that most people can relate to having. The author also notes that he is not against air conditioning as a whole, just the overuse of it. This acknowledgement helps show his audience the solution to this issue does not involve the removal of all AC units, and gains the approval of the American people. Klinenberg makes an important point that by blasting the AC will only make everyone hotter in the long run.
