One day, my younger brother told my father that he saw me and my older brother eat two gummies. My father got really mad and stationed an “intervention”. He said that if he found out that one of us ate more than one gummy, we would not be allowed to watch TV for a whole week (which represents the 25 years of prison in the case). My older brother first “testified” that he only ate one. Then, my younger brother testified that he saw my older brother eating two gummies next to me while I was eating one too. I testified saying that I also saw my older brother eating two, but that I only ate one. My younger then testified that he only saw me eating one, but that he assumed I ate two as well, putting me in the all clear (I’m a little bit like Steve in this circumstance). Even with my younger brother on my side, my father still had doubt regarding my “innocence” because he actually never thought I could ever be involved in any mess what’s or ever (which is like Steve’s father in the book). On the other hand, Briggs had to make sure that the jury connects King and Steve, because Steve looked like a decent guy. We also read that Steve believes that O’Brien thinks he’s guilty. The case makes him very scared, making his heart beat like crazy. As time passed, the trouble he was in kept looking bigger, making him even more scared to loose the case. A few pages later, we read the testimonies of Dorothy Moore, king’s cousin, and Nipping, a man that knew King for about 18 years. Dorothy testified that her cousin came the afternoon of the crime at about 3:30 with a lamp that he thought she might like. She actually doesn’t know a lot about her cousin. Also, the lamp she says he brought “broke”, so she has no way of proving he came, meaning she might me lying on the stand. Nipping testifies that King is left-handed, but the shooter is right-handed considering the fact that the wound was on the left-side of the body. But again, that man has never seen King hold a gun, so he has no idea which hand he would use. Later in the book, we read O’Brien’s advice to Steve before he takes the stand. He needs to present himself as someone the jurors can believe in. By being on stand, Steve distances himself from King, because he can speak for himself and King can’t because he lied to the police officer and told them that he didn’t know Bobo, which is lie. On the stand, Steve says that he was in no way involved with the robbery or the killing of Nesbitt, nor was he in the drugstore at the time of the murder. He was taking mental notes for a film project for Sawicki’s class, which was then testified by the teacher himself. He says that he didn’t tell anyone he was going to be the lookout. More over, he says that King and him are just acquaintances. We notice that Steve speaks in a ferme and confident voice. Sawicki’s testimony has a big impact on the case, not only because he puts Steve in an other place at the time of the crime, but he describes him as a truly honest, talented, bright and compassionate man.
Briggs’s summation of the case is basically that Bobo and Osvaldo’s testimony mean nothing, because they’re just saying what they need to get what they want.
Mrs.Henry’s testimony is also meaningless, because her mind at the time of the robbery was on her grandchild’s health, so she evidently made a mistake in the identification of James King in the pictures. He also says that the people the prosecution is trying to make the jurors believe in are all criminals, so they’re all untrustworthy. But Mrs.Moore, who has never committed a crime, should be trusted. He finally says that the 2 men testifying being part of the crime are the real ones who committed it, aka Bobo and Osvaldo. 
O’Brien basically says in her summation that the State has never established a conversation between Steve and anyone else about a robbery. More over, who ever was the lookout did a bad job of looking at the place, considering the fact that Mrs.Henry was in the store at the begging of the crime. She agree’s about Osvaldo and Bobo testimonies. 
Petrocelli’s summation is that there were 3 witness’s: Bobo, Osvaldo and Henry.
She says that the cigarettes prove that King was at the robbery. She says that Osvaldo, Bobo, King and Steve are all part of the crime and are equally guilty. She says Steve is guilty because it’s not normal for Steve to just have happened to be in the drugstore the day if the crime.
Finally, the jurors came to a decision. Steven Harmon as been found not guilty. James King has been found guilty for felony murder and has been sentenced for 25 years of prison. Osvaldo was sent at reformatory for the theft of a car and as far as Steve knows, Bobo is still in prison.
