Since Machu Picchu is just 100km away from the Amazon, it rains a lot there in the summer. The rainy season ends in March, so from May to October it is usually clear and dry, but it's cool at night. There's the Festival of the Sun in late June and it also gets crowded in July and in August. So the best time to visit is in April or May, with warm temperatures around 25ºC.

You should bring
You should bring warm clothes for the cool evenings and light clothes for the warm and hot days. You shouldn't forget your raingear even in the dry season because of the Amazon, besides your sunblock and a hat for the sunny days!

Attractions
The best attractions are some museums, temples and restaurants with excellent traditional food! You should also go on a train ride from Cusco city to Machu Picchu, in Aguas Calientes city. There are also hiking options in the mountains for the adventurous travelers!
