There has been a huge increase in the number of refugees and immigrants who are seeking asylum in Europe. Unfortunately, human smugglers have taken advantage of these people fleeing the Middle East. Some passengers died during the crossing due to overcrowding on the boats. The bodies of twenty-one women and one man were found "in a pool of fuel" at the bottom of a rubber dinghy adrift near the Libyan coast, just hours after they set sail for Italy, this according to the humanitarian group Doctors Without Borders (MSF). Italian authorities have reported a jump in the number of refugees and migrants who have left Libya this week on overcrowded boats in search of a better life in Europe as human smugglers took advantage of calm seas and hot summer weather to take people across to Europe.
