Hay mucho que hacer en Costa Rica. Me gusta ir de compras. Costa Rica tiene muchos supermercados. Cuando voy al supermercado, compro un cepillo de dientes, una toalla, y el maquillaje.

Me gusta ir a la librería porque meinteresan los libros. Me gusta ir al cine con mi familia.

Cunado como en un restaurante, pido una limonada, la pizza, y la ensalada. Yo pido la ensalada porque yo creo que es importante comer verduras.

La comunidad en la ciudad es muy bonita. Hay grandes iglesias y edificios. Hay muchos parques. En los parques hay fuentes y estatuas. En los parques, la gente tiene fiestas de cumpleaños. Hay globos, las piñatas, papel picado, decaoraciones, las luces, y lo más importante: el pastel!

Part 3: Reflection

Spanish and English are very similar languages with much of the same alphabet, but there are some differences. One is the letter eño (ñ) which is not in the English alphabet. There are also accent marks in the Spanish language which are important because where you put accents on a word can completely change the meaning of it. There are also a lot of similar words that are just spelled or pronounced slightly differently. Costa Rican culture is very different from the culture here, it's exactly what I'd expect from an island. Costa Rica has one of the highest rates of happiness in the world, which seems so fantasy-like to me. I love how bright everything is there, from the food to the buildings. I think the United States should adopt some more interesting-looking buildings.

If (when) I continue to study the Spanish language I hope to get more fluent with my pronunciation. I hope to be able to be quicker responding to people when in a conversation, and I hope to get less formal with my speech. Learning Spanish in an online course has its advantages and its disadvantages. I liked how the course was self-paced, I also liked how there were optional assignments that were there to help. I also liked how late assignments could be made up which puts less stress on trying to get good grades, but rather learning the language. The only thing about the course that I think may need some work is verbal interaction. There would be discussion boards but I've realized that in a normal setting I'd be able to talk to someone directly in Spanish.

I took a lot of notes during this course which definitely helped me during this course. It was very useful having everything in one place to reference. I think I could have personally managed my own time better. Sometimes I'd see an assignment and I'd get discouraged because I knew I'd have to spend extra time on it. I've learned the best way to do assignments that I know will take extra time is to do them in chunks.

I think the instructors did a great job checkin in on students and keeping everything on track. The live classes were especially very helpful when it came to clearing up senetences and grammar. My instructor was really good with making content accesible by posting live classes and little helper announcements. There is honestly my instructor could have done more to help me, as the rest was only up to me to do. 10/10 would take another NCVPS langauge class again.
