I believe these violations occur for many reasons, however, I believe the greatest reason for going against this ethical principle is due to convenience and accessibility. With many tools online it's become very easy to claim someones work as ones own. This especially becomes present with the innovation of AI. Although AI presents with some good features that can be helpful when used correctly it's convenience is commonly misused. Although it's not usually due to ill intent, individuals look to use it to help ease the pressures of their work, howeverthey end up relying on it to complete tasks in the process, leading to a lack of authenticity and indaviduality in work. Additonally, I think the creation of AI has lead to many feeling that the work they produce isn't good enough compared to that of AI, resulting in trying to utilize AI to make themselves sound better when in reality it's actually working against them due to falsly claiming AI work as their own.

A manner in which I think appropriating other people's intellectual output can be reduced is by addressing the root cause of the problem, which is whatever causes one to utilize AI tools. Although it may just be because they're easily accessible, it goes deeper than this, it must be discovered if people are using these tools inappropriately due to stress, lack of knowledge, lack of time management, etc. By identifying the basis as to why an individuals is violating guidelines it allows the opportunity to help people with growth and development and to potentially realize that they are smart enough to complete tasks on their own and express their own creativity. Moreover, although it's important to utilize detection tools to discourage people utilizing other sources other than their own being finding the root cause of the problem is even more important to work to empower people and their own knowledge.
