This is an example of prosocial behavior because the action of picking up trash helps others-- whether this be help beachgoers enjoy a clean beach, help the world become cleaner for humans, or make the environment safer for animal life. Personal factors that likely contribute to this action include the characteristics of respect and compassion as well as the background of being raised in a caring home. I believe that respect and a caring home play a role in the action of the children because they are willing to listen to and learn from the adults that are encouraging them to help others. Compassion arises from caring about the environment and others. Overall, I think it is great to see children at a young age demonstrate prosocial behavior.

Volunteering is a great example of prosocial behavior because it is an action that has the sole reward of benefitting others. Characteristics of compassion towards others and cooperation with others encourage the prosocial behavioral act of volunteering. In this specific example, culture and religion also encourage volunteer work. Church volunteers may help other to share the love of God or follow the bible. I think it is a great thing to see others perform good acts based on their religion. Overall, I believe that all volunteer work, including that of the church, is a prime example of prosocial behavior because humans are volunteering their time just to help others.

Culture may influence the specific small gestures that are considered meaningful and helpful to others. Overall, I think it is important to understand that prosocial behaviors can be impactful no matter their size.
