Kar Xin (10) 4F
Link: http://www.straitstimes.com/opinion/arts-culture-and-a-distinct-singaporean-identity
Summary: The article talks about the different cultures in Singapore and what they have done to achieve their Singaporean identity. The article also quoted Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's speech to show what each culture has done.

Vocabulary:
1. integration (an act or instance of integrating a racial, religious, or ethnic group)
2. assimilation (the process of adapting or adjusting to the culture of a group or nation, or the state of being so adapted)

Opinion on the article:
1. I think the trend presented is that the different races and cultures have their own unique identity. They work together to achieve what they hoped to see at the end of the day. This strengthens each other's bond.
2. I have followed the trend before because I feel that it is my duty and responsibility to behave like my own culture. That way, we are able to strengthen the knowledge of the culture.
3. The possible consequences of following such a trend are that we might get too absorbed into the culture's beliefs that we forget how to behave and treat the different cultures with respect.

I behaved and did not show other races that my race is bad.Being multiracial and respecting one another and their culture. Didnt make fun of each other cultures.
3) We will learn to be respectful towards other culture and other religions. We will be multiracial and will respect other cultures.

Nayli (03)
Summary :
There are reasons behind every different music and choreography of Malay dance . Every Malay dance celebrates heritage pieces and also the future . He had spent a lot of hours in school practicing and get every steps of the choreography right and perfect so that there is a low chances of mistakes happening for his team .
They worked hard as they had to compete every primary schools in Singapore that is participating in that certain competition . My family and i gave him our fullest support by coming down to the place where the competition was held . I was happy for him as his effort paid off as well as his teammates as they got silver for the Malay dance competition .

Is it something that you would follow too ? What are the possible consequences of following such trends?
If i were to have a chance to try out this pogramme , i would follow the trend too . By following this trend , i could the different things about my own heritage . I believe that there are no consequences of following such trends as we have to do what we love to do instead of doing it because we are forced to which means we have zero interest in doing it .

Link :
