I enjoyed and still do enjoy fantasy, science fiction/dystopian, and historical fiction novels. The Hunger Games and Twilight were two of my favorite series during those years. I read more because I liked the feeling of escape that books can give you. I finally began to enjoy reading because it really didn't matter how long it took me to finish. As previously mentioned, I was a very slow reader which lead me to despise reading anything. I was always behind on anything we read in class and was tortured when asked to read aloud. However, I did find a book that I really connected with. I Am the Wallpaper was the first novel I read on my own for pleasure. It took me forever to read, but I made a connection with the character. I however LOVED being read to. I was blessed with amazing librarians who read to us every week and always had authors visit. I have so many books signed by authors from elementary.
