I have joined this event because I'm interesting in the future of learning. I attended the course "Future classroom scenarios" by EUN. It was great, I learnt a lot. 

I went to Finland last January to see with my eyes how schools are organized. I had the chance to visit different schools and the university of Jyvaskyla. I came back with a lot of new ideas in my mind, but also frustrated by the reality we have in Italy. I hope in a big change in the Italian School System. I want to be part of this change.

I'm Emiliana and I work in a Secondary school. My students have already used their own devices at school. We have wifi connection and we have tablets at school. I think BYOD is necessary when school doesn't have own devices or wifi is not available for students. I think I'm lucky because in my school I have both. I'm the administrator of ICT in my school and I worked hard to have this new technology at school. 

I use BYOD or devices to create digital products after a cooperative activity.

In the last three years these possibilities have become more and more important and interesting. You can attend courses online and in presence. Some of them are free, others you have to pay.

I feel inspired and empowered by the "new" role of teachers. Actually, I have always tried to teach by using a student-centred methodology and technology, so now I'm just continuing doing with more awareness and with new means (devices and apps) what I started doing from the first day I began to teach.

Teachers are trying to improve their competences in order to accomplish the huge task to teach 21st century skills to theri pupils here in Italy. Changement is quite so slow and most of teachers still prefer to do what they have ever done; there will be some time before the paper curriculum will become the one implemented in school.

I think teachers are trying to integrate 21st century skills in their school subject teaching, especially:

1. Learning to learn

2. Creativity and innovation

3. Problem solving

4. Collaboration and communication

5. ICT literacy

6. Citizenship

7. Social Responsibilty

These skills are part of most teachers' goals to grow students as better people in the future. I'm trying to do it!

There are a lot of possibilities I didn't have when I was a teenager to develop and learn to think in a different way. I feel empowered because I'm in pace with the new technology, it gives me chances to teach and learn in different ways. I'm teaching students who will do a job we don't even know now, so I feel excited and strong. As I said before changement are really slow here in Italy, because people have problems in changing their habits, but being part of the European Union means being part of a developed and huge community who is looking forward the economic growth to achieve human development.
