Uno degli ambienti più colpiti da questa situazione è l’ambiente marino.

Il mare rappresenta oltre il 70% della superficie della nostra terra, fornisce cibo, calore e vita a moltissime specie.

Dalla metà del secolo scorso sono stati prodotti 8 miliardi di tonnellate di plastica ed il 90% non è mai stato riciclato. Per questo motivo moltissimi esseri viventi marini hanno mangiato per sbaglio cose di plastica disperse nel mare rischiando la vita e soffrendo terribilmente.

Per fortuna oggi la sensibilità su questo argomento è aumentata e molte cose si stanno facendo e si potranno fare per migliorare la condizione delle acque.

Diminuire il consumo di plastica si può!

Oggi sono talmente tanti gli utilizzi della plastica nella vita di tutti i giorni, che ci sono molti modi per poterla riutilizzare.

La sostituzione delle borse della spesa da borse in plastica a borse in stoffa o biodegradabili sarebbe una buona idea. Oppure la sostituzione delle cannucce in plastica con cannucce fatte di bambù o di carta, o ancora meglio, usare tutti i giorni una semplice borraccia al posto delle bottigliette di plastica.

Ovviamente non tutti la pensano allo stesso modo...alcuni sono convinti che usare i materiali “usa e getta” sia molto più comodo e più igienico; oppure pensano che l’importante che la plastica sia biodegradabile. Per non parlare della raccolta differenziata che per molti cittadini è solo un’inutile perdita di tempo.

Noi pensiamo che ogni cosa fatta, anche se piccola, sia comunque utile ad aiutare questa causa.

L’ecosistema marino ha bisogno della cura di tutti noi anche semplicemente con la pulizia delle spiagge, non gettando mozziconi di sigarette nella sabbia, non gettando spazzatura o altro in acqua sarebbe già una grande cosa; perchè se questa cosa la faccio da solo, non cambieranno le cose, se invece la facciamo tutti insieme diventa obiettivo comune, cioè un “Global Goal” e la situazione migliorerà di sicuro! 

Global pollution is certainly one of the biggest problems in the world.

One of the environments most affected by this situation is the marine environment.

The sea represents over 70% of the surface of our earth, providing food, warmth and life to many species.

Since the middle of the last century, 8 billion tons of plastic have been produced and 90% has never been recycled.  For this reason, many marine living beings have accidentally eaten plastic things lost in the sea, risking their lives and suffering terribly.

Fortunately, today the sensitivity on this topic has increased and many things are being done and can be done to improve the conditions of the waters.

We think that everything done, even if small, is still useful to help this cause.

The marine ecosystem needs the care of all of us even simply by cleaning the beaches, not throwing cigarette butts in the sand, not throwing garbage or anything else into the water would already be a great thing;  because if I do this alone, things will not change, but if we do it all together it becomes a common goal, that is a "Global Goal" and the situation will improve for sure!

So we (Diego and Ester) have decided that our "action" will be cleaning the beaches!

Thanks to this action we will contribute to helping the marine ecosystem in a few hours.  We will not only clean one beach, but we will clean at least 2 of the dirtiest ones and we will extend the invitation to all those who want to join us. With this contribution we will try to work together to improve the underwater life of our planet.

Unfortunately in this period of pandemic, having to follow very strict rules regarding even the minimum spacing of 1 or 2 m between people, perhaps this will not be ensured because when there are many people who have to collect waste without an established path, there is a risk that this  is not maintained.  Furthermore, if the number of participants were to be too high, it could happen that people do not really focus on what to do but waste time chatting or other and in any case if this day is not well organized 2 hours would be very few to be able to make a contribution  significant!

 However, we will try to enforce the distancing as much as possible and to make people focus on the importance of this action and to make it clear that even just two hours of everyone's life, dedicated to these very important initiatives, can be a great contribution to the  care of the marine environment.
Since we want to help the sea and marine animals, we intend to help the marine ecosystem by CLEANING UP THE BEACHES. We would like to create a day where people who can participate in cleaning the beaches. It would be a greater help to the marine ecosystem.
We would like to do this action with the help of LEGAMBIENTE.
Even people who can't clean the beaches might:

Do separate collection.
When going to the sea preferably bring a metal water bottle etc.
We would like to send an email on Managebac asking the masters to tell you where to see us, what time and what day.

L’uomo sta facendo danni enormi, bisogna rimediare e salvaguardare la vita marina in tutto il mondo.

Le acque del mare coprono la maggior parte ( circa il 70% ) della superficie terrestre. Sono un grande sistema respiratorio per tutto il pianeta: producono ossigeno, assorbono anidride carbonica e riciclano i rifiuti organici nella catena alimentare. Inoltre, mari e oceani regolano il clima assorbendo calore d’estate e restituendolo d’inverno: in questo modo fanno sì che il pianeta sia luogo ideale per la vita degli uomini e degli altri esseri viventi. La salute delle acque marine è perciò indispensabile per un futuro sostenibile della Terra.

Le attività degli uomini però stanno creando sempre più problemi; l’acidificazione delle acque, l’innalzamento del livello del mare, gli eventi meteorologici estremi, la riduzione della fauna marina dovuta ad una pesca eccessiva  o condotta con tecniche distruttive che impedisce il rinnovamento delle popolazioni marine e l’inquinamento dell’habitat marino, in particolare l’inquinamento dovuto dai molti sacchetti di plastica dispersi in mare.

Nel 1980 venne scoperta nell’Oceano Pacifico un’impressionante “isola di plastica” dalle dimensioni enormi; attualmente si stima che ne esistano 5.

Particolarmente pericolose sono le microplastiche cioè i frammenti di plastica più piccoli di 2 mm che vengono ingerite dalle diverse specie marine, entrando direttamente nella catena alimentare fino a noi. A molti animali, compresi i mammiferi marini, gli uccelli, i pesci e le tartarughe, succede di scambiare le plastiche per alimenti. Le tartarughe di mare, in particolare, confondono i sacchetti galleggianti con le meduse, uno dei loro cibi preferiti. 

Ogni anno gli esseri umani usano tantissima plastica  ma purtroppo se ne ricicla solo una piccola percentuale.

Per fortuna, nel settembre del 2015 i governi dei 193 Paesi membri dell’ONU hanno sottoscritto l'Agenda 2030 per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile, che comprende i Global Goals, cioè 17 obiettivi globali che hanno lo scopo di migliorare il mondo.

Noi ( Ester e Diego ) abbiamo deciso di dedicarci a  “Life below water” l’OBIETTIVO n.14 dell’Agenda 2030 che riguarda proprio tutto questo e ci ricorda che dobbiamo rimboccarci le maniche per proteggere gli oceani e utilizzare le risorse che ci offrono in modo sostenibile, cioè con intelligenza e misura, in modo non distruttivo.

Nel nel nostro piccolo, come azione concreta, vogliamo andare a pulire le spiagge pubbliche ed in questo modo contribuiremo ad aiutare gli ecosistemi marini e non solo: passeremo una giornata bellissima tutti insieme e miglioreremo la nostra capacità di lavorare in gruppo. Questa però rischia di rimanere una piccola azione  e potremmo quindi istituire una giornata di pulizia delle spiagge che si ripeta ogni anno.

Negli ultimi anni, grazie anche all’informazione dei media e delle istituzioni, si sono concretizzate diverse iniziative per difendere la vita dei mari e degli oceani. Una delle strade più promettenti è l’innovazione.

Soluzioni tecnologiche e creatività possono aiutare la produzione di oggetti che sostituiscono i materiali non biodegradabili e lo smaltimento dei rifiuti di plastica esistenti.

Noi crediamo che non dobbiamo MAI dimenticarci di essere “ospiti” di questo meraviglioso Pianeta che ci ha sempre fornito tutto il necessario per vivere e noi, ingrati, lo stiamo distruggendo e ci stiamo AUTOdistruggendo…

dobbiamo cercare di sensibilizzare una coscienza ecologica che riguardi i comportamenti delle singole persone e della collettività.

Per garantire la conservazione della vita sott’acqua dobbiamo però agire tutti, anche solo con un piccolo contributo.

 

The sea, an expanse of blue water has become the landfill of the Earth.

LIFE UNDER WATER ... IN A SEA OF TROUBLE!

Man is doing enormous damage, we need to remedy and safeguard marine life around the world.

Sea waters cover most (about 70%) of the earth's surface.  They are a large respiratory system for the whole planet: they produce oxygen, absorb carbon dioxide and recycle organic waste in the food chain.  Furthermore, seas and oceans regulate the climate by absorbing heat in summer and returning it in winter. In this way they make the planet an ideal place for the life of men and other living beings.  The health of marine waters is therefore indispensable for a sustainable future of the Earth.

However, men's activities are creating more and more problems. Water acidification, sea levels rising, extreme meteorological events, reduction in  marine fauna due to overfishing as examples of such destructive actions techniques that prevent the renewal of marine populations and coupled with those that pollute  the marine habitat. ( In particular the pollution caused by the billions of plastic lost at sea),human impact on our seas is at a critical level.

In 1980 an impressive "plastic island" of enormous size was discovered in the Pacific Ocean.  Currently it is estimated that there are now 5 in total.

Particularly dangerous are microplastics, i.e. the  plastic fragments smaller than 2 mm that are ingested by  different marine species, entering directly into the food chain and up to us.  Many animals, including marine mammals, birds, fish and turtles, happen to mistake plastics for food.  Sea turtles, in particular, confuse floating bags with jellyfish, one of their favorite foods.

Humans use hundreds of billions of plastic every year and only a small percentage is recycled.

Fortunately, in September 2015 the governments of the 193 UN member countries signed the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which includes the Global Goals. There are 17 Global Goals that aim to improve the world; and our school and many others have decided to contribute to this cause by making small projects that create awareness.  we were divided into small groups (made up of a maximum of 3 people) based on the Goal we liked.

We (Ester and Diego) have decided to dedicate ourselves to "Life below water" OBJECTIVE no.14 of the 2030 agenda which concerns all this and reminds us that we must roll up our sleeves to protect the oceans and use the resources they offer us  in a sustainable way, that is, with intelligence and measure, in a non-destructive way.

We in our small way, as a concrete action, want to go and clean public beaches and in this way we will contribute to helping marine ecosystems and beyond: we will spend a beautiful day all together and improve our ability to work in a team.  However, this risks remaining a small action and we could therefore set up a beach cleaning day that is repeated every year.

In recent years, thanks also to information from the media and institutions, various initiatives have taken place to defend the life of the seas and oceans.  One of the most promising avenues is innovation.

Technological solutions and creativity can help the production of objects that replace non-biodegradable materials and the disposal of existing plastic waste.

We believe that we must NEVER forget to be "guests" of this wonderful planet that has always provided us with everything we need to live and we, ungrateful, are destroying it and we are destroying ourselves ...we must try to raise awareness of an ecological awareness that concerns the behavior of individuals and the community.

To ensure the conservation of life underwater, however, we must all act, even with a small contribution, just like US!
