Overview

For my letter of STEAM what I find the most discomfort in applying to my instruction is the "A" which stands for Arts. I believe my discomfort with the Arts is rooted in the fact that I have never considered myself an artistic person. The application of "Arts" into my instruction feels uncomfortable and foreign to me. In addition, the "A" in STEAM not only represents Art but the ability for students to be hands-on by painting, drawing, and getting hands-on with their project

WHY?

1. As mentioned before why I am uncomfortable with applying Art to my STEAM projects within my classroom is because I do not consider myself an artistic person and find it uncomfortable to address.
2. Another reason as to why I believe I am uncomfortable with "Art" because as a teacher I have always learned how to teach Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. These are topics that come up frequently as a a General Education Teacher but Art typically does not come up!

1. One way I could incorporate "Art" into my STEAM projects would be to allow my students to draw their designs of their projects and label their designs. This could be used as the planning portion of the project.

2. Another way I could incorporate "Art into my STEAM projects would be to allow my students to design and draw the tracks for their Ozobots. This bots follow the track that my students design and perform different task depending on the codes my students place along the track.

3. Another way I could incorporate "Art" into my STEAM project is that I could have my students make a Flip Grid after their project. Their Flip Grids would allow students to explain their projects and demonstrate how it works!

When looking at my colleagues techniques to apply "Arts" to their STEAM projects. I have noticed 2 ways they have attempted to accomplish this....

1. Flip grids have become a fun and yet effective way many of my colleagues apply "Arts" to their teaching.
2. Next, teachers have done whole class presentations where groups present their projects to the whole class.
