Learning Unit 1 is is about “Introduction to Communication.” I came to see the value of communication in many factes of my life. I now realise that communication is a constant process that includes actions, reactions, and interactions with people from the time i get up until i go to sleep. It is not only about talking or sending messages. Communication can take many different forms, such as talking to oneself (intrapersonal communication), conversing with others (interpersonal communication), or even connecting through technology (mediated communication). I also discovered that having strong communication skills can help me achieve profesionally and enhance my relationships and self-confidence. It caused me to consider how context, culture, and the symbols i employ affect every message i give or receive and how communication is a dynamic and intricate process. All things considered, this topic helped me recognise how important it is to comprehend and use effective communication techniques in my day-to-day activities.

As i thought back on this unit of study, i became aware of how intricate and ever changing perception and identity are. I discovered that identity encompasses more than just my perception of myself. I became more conscious of how easy micommunications can occur after learning about the ways in which words can be vague, abstract, or culturally specific. The advice about being forceful and using words to help others rather than just express myself was very helpful. This unit reminded me that communication is about comprehanding, not just talking, and it truly made me see how much responsibility comes with carefully picking my words.

I used to believe that the greatest approach to maintain peace was to avoid conflict, but to maintain peace was to avoid conflict, but since i have learnt that unresolved conflicts can worsen in the future. I now understand the importance of employing the appropriate conflict style in the appropriate circumstance after learning about several conflict styles such as compromise, accommodating, and cooperating. I also found the section on power dynamics to be really noteworthy, which is not only about the problem, but also about who has the most sway. All things considered, this unit gave me a more positive perspective on conflict and increased my confidence in my ability to resolve conflicts amicably and skilfully.
