Some of my skills are being able to learning quickly, I am good at managing my time, being a team player, and having a strong work ethic. I have thought about my future career options a lot during my middle school and high school years. The specific career I had in mind over the years has changed, but all of the career options have been in the same genre, environment.  I love being outside and being around plants and animals, so I think that a career in some type of environmental job would be perfect for me. The career that I am most interested in at this time is being in natural resources. I want a major in natural resources in college with a minor in statistics. This is the path I want to be on, now I just need to figure out how to achieve my goal.

One thing that I could to be more employable is to obtain training. When obtaining training, “depending on the profession, you may be required to earn a college degree, complete vocational training, learn new skills, or complete an apprenticeship or internship” (pg. 6). I am going to be getting some training in natural resources next year hopefully at Darby Creek Nature Center through the career mentorship program at the ILC. Another way that would make me more employable is by going to college and getting my bachelor’s degree. Getting a college degree is important because, “having a college degree often provides for greater promotion opportunity” (pg. 5).  This would be nice because I hope to be a naturalist that helps are state parks to conserve wildlife. Lastly, “attending college provides students with the knowledge and experience they are unable to receive from a secondary education” (pg. 5). Therefore, going to college and receiving extra training will make me more employable in the workforce.
