Land owners, scholars, military leaders, and government officials. Scholars are educated people. Farmers and people who worked the land were third in the hierarchy. They were valued because food was so important for the civilization's survival. Craftspeople and artisans were below farmers. Business people (merchants and shopkeepers) were below them. In this society, business people were not well respected because their wealth came from the hard work of others.

Hemp is a rough material from plant fibers. It was good to wear when working in the fields.
Rich people wear clothing made of silk. Silk is made from the cocoons of the silkworms and is soft, light, and beautiful.
 Silk Garments were generally long robes. You could dye them with specific colors or fancy designs.

The Chinese word for "emperor" is "Huangdi" there were other names to call the emperor they were "Son of heaven" ,"Lord of Ten Thousand years",and "Holy Highness."
