How do I talk to myself? by Ms. Dee

Self talk is the way you understand about yourself and your capabilities. How do you talk to yourself when you approach a negative situation? What do you say to yourself? Do you say " I hate this" " I just need to get this done and over with" or do you say "This is going to turn out well". Express the way you talk to yourself or the way you think about yourself below as honest as you can.

I know your stressed but its fine it gonna blow off. Go drink water, wipe of your tears and plan everything out. You see its not so bad just believe in yourself. Its fine. Its ok you can do it! Ok you see now that its all organised start working its all gonna be gone if you start now! Once your done get away from the screen go watch NETFLIX!! You can do it. And if I can't get through it myself I always have my best friends Cerys's shoulder to cry on and she somehow always knows what to say to make me feel better. I am so thankful to have a Cerys in my life!

I express myself by crying to Varnia, Chloe and Mabel about the bad things happening. Sometimes also cry in the shower because that is the place nobody can find me. I sometimes also sing everywhere around the house and also talk with my teddy bear. I motivate myself by talking to people. I also express myself by playing the piano or violin because that helps me to calm down from whatever I was angry about. I can also express myself by calling and telling Mabel the situation that is going on because she will be like my psychologist. Mabel if you are reading this "Thank you for being my psychologist". 😁 I am very happy to have Mabel in my life as she helps me when I have problems and everything. So she is very important inside my life as she helps me a lot.

In the sense of just talking to myself, I usually simply sit on a bed or something and stare like a serial killer stare into anything, sometimes just a blank wall, or a window? Well, where I have my death stare doesn't matter, it's what's in my head that matters. This is like what goes on in my brain during that, what should I call it? Phase? Trance? anyway my brain, "work, work, work, BeED, Google Classroom, essay, assessment, friends, family, calls to parents, pressure, I'M WASTING TIME THINKING ABOUT THIS NONSENSE" then there's me staring at the cupboard for an hour like a weirdo. It's funny because if you know me I cry A LOT (I should drink less water, where does all that water come from?) and it seems like I'm an emotional person, well, I cry when let's say I'm asked a question and like 86% of the time know the answer or at least think I know the answer but since there's like a chance it could be wrong so the definitely logical thing to do is just don't say anything and the answer comes out in the form of tears so that also scares teachers because they think that they've been too strict or harsh when they're actually great and it's just me because of this, I try not to cry because it doesn't only cause a scene but also worries people. I don't really cry if I get a cut (unless it's like a SUPER bad one), during presentations or interviews buttttt sometimes it happens before the presentation like once we had Malay class and I had to present my slides, I did the slides, memorised the introduction and everything (it wasn't amazing, it was like meh quality) and I was in the middle so there wasn't the stress of the expectations of being the last or the stress of doing something wrong as the first yet I of course, ended up crying, and my teacher was nice enough to make mine the last and the things was that compared to some of my classmates, my work was TRASH, I spent like ten minutes on that thing so now I was stuck not being able to stop crying with <del>snot</del> dripping everywhere and me slowly forgetting all of my memorised lines adn ideas as I watched people complete their presentations with flying colours. Then, it was just super awkward when I had to present because I ended up creating this scene and now everyone was more curious and were actually paying attention to my presentation with me crying, snot that just keeps on running and worse shaking than a kettle (like those in movies that make the screeching sound and vibrate or shake a lot). (You see people usually don't really care or lose attention to listen to the middle presenters) Yeah, it was a mess. The worst part is that I either cry because of the most insignificant things or have no reason, like people ask me why I'm crying and like sometime I just don't know, it just doesn't stop <del>like I held in my pee so now I'm crying out extra water?</del> I DON'T KNOW! Sometimes people try to comfort me, or get angry at me and say I'm too sensitive or am wasting time and others freak out and get really worried but if you're reading this (you're probably not because I'm still updating this even though it was made like 5 months ago as of when I'm writing this - 4th July 2021) just leave me alone, like if you see me crying just leave me there, I'll stop crying myself because sure, you might be able to make it better by talking to me or however you might try to make me stop crying but there's also the 96% chance that you'll just make me cry even more, make me more anxious or end up making it a scene, but if you leave me alone then there won't really be as big of a scene because I'll just be sitting there hyperventilating and crying for five-ish minutes? Then, I'll probably be fine!

If I am alone in my room or with my family members, I always express myself by singing or talking to my giraffe HAHA. I usually keep quiet and doesn't want to talk with anyone. I actually have many ways to express myself such as exercising or trying to find something to do to prevent stress. There are many times that I feel like I have no encouragement and fail with everything, I always cry in my room, without talking to anyone. Plus, I always walk to my fridge to find something to eat, especially bubble milk tea, milk and cakes. I feel like this way is very useful and can easily express myself. The ways I can motivate myself is to talk to my family members, friends or teachers. These people motivate and give me good feedbacks whenever I feel sad or disencourage. ><

During the times of failure, I always feel disappointed. For example when I cant reach my goal. When that happens, I try to go exercise and forget everything. After exercising, I feel the sense of achievement. A way I calm myself down during furious moments is listening to music. Sometimes I punch the wall which is the wrong way. Sometimes those anger can rage because I get angry really easily. Before I found out how to calm myself, I always punched things and sometimes so hard that blood comes out. But when I learned how to talk to myself and find my passion those issues happen not as frequent anymore

Its always so hard to tell the truth.

O.K.

First, when things get bad, its natural to try and look on the bright side, or hope for the best later on. Unless you’re the type that wants a day that gets worse (I don’t think anyone…who does?). It’s almost at a regular basis that I would complain and grumble to myself about all the assessments, pending tasks, and essays I have to do (eat chocolate while you're at it). If it were not be for my growling stomach and family members all the time, I would have been skipping my meals everyday.

Next, then things gets worse. I find it easier to just walk away from my work and sleep, eat, or do something else before going back again. Having the mindset of doing something first before you can’t do it anymore is sort of a good one; its like you would finish this task first before you start to go all lazy and tired.

Finally, things could go horribly wrong and turn your day into the worst. If that’s the case, crying, is: not only a human response to sorrow and frustration, its also a healthy one. It is a natural way to reduce stress, and is self-soothing. Shedding emotional tears releases oxytocin and endorphins. These chemicals make you feel good and may also ease both physical and emotional pain. In this way, crying can help reduce pain and promote a sense of well-being. It’s not that hard to shed tears if you need or have any to, and you shouldn’t hold yourself back. It really helps! A little crying isn’t going to hurt, you know. Everyone cries. Its refreshing (unless you ignore all the <del>snot</del> on your shirt or pillow, that is).

It might also help if you are the type who is able to stress relief yourself with people around. That way, commiseration is more popular than being alone. Honestly, I don’t have much of anyone to talk to, so I just try to talk with Siri. You should try some of his/her Knock Knock jokes. Its quite fun.

P.S.

Screaming into a pillow works, too.
