The Yangtze is the 3rd largest river in the world but the longest river to flow within one country. The Yangtze supports China's economy with its fertile soils and rich soils. The Yangtze river holds 40% of China's freshwater resources. Therefore, the Yangtze River is an important river system because it holds most of China's fresh water and economical wealth.

The pollution on the Yangtze River is caused by sewerage. The Yangtze River is one of the most polluted Rivers in the world. 25 billion tons of sewerage has been dropped into the Yangtze River which is about 42% of the country’s sewerage discharge. Shipping discharges are also to blame for China's poor health and sewerage in the Yangtze River. The pollution on the Yangtze river has affected 400 million Chinese people. Most of China's people rely on the Yangtze for fresh water but the water has been polluted and that’s how China's people are getting sick and getting diseases. Therefore, China's biggest worry on the Yangtze River is pollution because thousands of people are getting sick by the polluted water.
