Teach Plus is an organization that hopes to fill the gap in urban setting for experienced and effective teachers. The organization was founded in 2009 as a means to fill this void and increase leadership opportunities for effective teachers.  The Turnaround Teacher Teams (T3) Initiative is a program under the Teach Plus organization; the T3 Initiative began in Boston, Massachusetts in 2010.  The T3 program recruits teachers that have experience and have been identified as “highly effective” to support teachers in low-performing schools while under the guidance of a T3 coach. “The Teach Plus mission is to improve outcomes for urban children by ensuring that a greater proportion of students have access to effective experienced teachers” (teachplus.org, 2014).  For the 2013-2014 school year, the Turnaround Teacher Teams (T3) initiative began working with three (3) Washington, D.C. schools.  The T3 Initiative expanded in the 2014-2015 school year with the addition of another school in Massachusetts and two schools in Washington, D.C. (teachplus.org, 2014).
