The story is told through the perspectives of four characters, Claire, Autumn, Sylv, and Tomás. It takes place on the first day of the second semester at Opportunity High School in Opportunity, Alabama.
Rising Action-
The students gather in the auditorium for an assembly.  As they are leaving, they discover that the doors are locked.  Moments after, an armed man begins ordering them around and threatening their lives.  Meanwhile, Tomás is outside of the auditorium trying to save his classmates.  As he begins to let them out, the shooter also escapes.
Climax-
Autumn wanders the halls looking for her girlfriend, Sylv.  Instead, she finds the shooter.  He shoots her and then shoots himself.
Falling Action-
Autumn is wheeled out of the school on a stretcher with Sylv by her side.  The students are sent to an emergency center where they will be reunited with their families.
Resolution-
