What I have learnt is these information and I wrote it in my own words. In early Kabuki, the female form was required to substitute for the actress. For example, the first generation Yoshizawa Ayame who was said to be an actress of an early female figure leaves a story of "I can not say that it is a good female unless you live as a woman from everyday life." The act when the man act as a woman is called “ Onnagata”

The voice before the kabuki start is to make sure that the audience notice the kabuki theatre starts.

It seems that kabuki used to be a actress kabuki once, but forbidden for disturbing the atmosphere.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58RtkReOhbc

Jōruri is the combination of chanting and the playing of music. Ningyō means dolls or puppets. There are three roles in Bunraku, Tayū (chanters), Ningyōzukai (puppeteers) and Shamishen (musicians).
