I will start the activity with the following question: What do you consider to be private/ public information about yourself. In 2 columns, we will separate what they consider private/ public.
After establishing what is private / public I will ask “What do you share on social networks? Do you share private information on social networks?
I consider very important to make pupils realize what mistakes they do online and use it as a starting point.
Then, we will analyze to what extent the information they consider private, intimate is made public on different social networks.
Why? Who is responsible? How can we protect ourselves online?
What should/ shouldn’t share online and how we protect ourselves from identity thieves?

  • Encouraging my students to speak their minds when the topic is quite sensitive
    • Talking about one's problems, sharing with the teachers /colleagues can be a very difficult thing to do for a lot of children. The reasons are various, but I can state some of the reasons that I identified: shame, fear to be misjudged, difficulty when talking about one's private life.
