A teenage girl named Hazel Grace Lancaster was diagnosed with lung cancer. She is always carrying a portable oxygen tank because that helps her breathe properly. She is forced to attend to a cancer patients support group. While attending to the support group she meets a boy named Augustus Waters who has cancer on his leg. They get to know each other and became good friends base on a book called "An Imperial Affliction". She is slowly dying because her lungs aren't working with her. Hazel and Augustus both start to realize the love they have for each other but realized the minimum time for each other.

Song Choice

I think this song represents Fault in our stars because Augustus likes Hazel but they are both afraid due to their sickness. Hazel also thinks she isn't good enough for anyone with the tank she is always carrying around with her but Augustus thinks she is perfect and beautiful. She may not see it but through his eyes, she is the definition of beauty.

Would I recommend reading this?

I would recommend this book to everyone. This book is realistic fiction which is a good thing to have a story with characters that are in difficult situations that could be true. This book also teaches you what's it like for someone to have cancer and what they go through and what's it like in the real world for them to not do what others can. Another thing I like about this book is how the author John Green wrote the book in a way where everyone can understand and know what's happening.

I chose this to act as the cover because they are both running out of time and they know it. They are trying to live their life but there is always an excuse due to their sickness that's holding them back into living the life they want.

“The world is not a wish-granting factory.” (page 214) This quote stuck out to me because it was heartbreaking for Augustus to tell Hazel that his cancer has returned.

“You don’t get to choose if you get hurt in this world … but you do have some say in who hurts you.” (page 313)

This quote was Augustus last message to Hazel in his letter he wrote for her. Since he didn't have enough time to speak to her to person to person.
3."I'm a grenade and at some
point I'm going to blow up and
I would like to minimize the
casualties, okay?” (page 99)
Since Hazel has lung cancer her
lungs can stop functioning at
any moment but she has a tank
that helps her breathe.
She doesn't socialize with people
due to the tank she carries, she
doesn't want to be bothered or
judged.

My response..

What I like about the book is that I get to understand what’s it like for someone who has cancer and what the person goes through on a daily basis. The book itself is amazing but one thing I dislike about it was that it was predictable in a way. While reading it I felt like I knew what was going to happen with the clues they were giving out and when it got to it, I didn’t feel emotional or anything.

One plot that was most interesting to me was when Augustus ended up dying and not Hazel. When Hazel was rushed to the hospital I thought that was going to be the last time I heard about her in the book but no it was the opposite. The only reason why I thought that was because she had a higher chance since her lungs weren't always functioning with her.
A connection I have with the book is I realized our life can be taken away in any second. Whether we have a sickness or not, our life is on the line. Whether we think we're okay or not we're not okay in any shape or form. There's always going to be something that's going to push us back into doing what we want to do but we have to risk it if we really want to do those certain things. I don't find this book relatable because I'm healthy and I'm not diagnosed with anything so I really can't relate to what the characters go through on a daily basis. I don't think I could compare this book to any other book because this book particularly tells us what's actually going on in the real world with people who have cancer and what they go through. Like a non-realistic book they will make up anything and then all the sudden this person survives but the truth is no matter how strong the person is there is always a negative result.
