Mentors should continue to explore their identities and always motivate new teachers to learn about their identities as well, as that would help to define their goals . Exploring emotions and practicing how to control them is an important tip in mentors' journey , as it would help the mentor to stay positive, professional and productive. Mentors should tell their story and listen ,affirm and consider their mentees' stories. Mentors should continue to be a resource,  have high organization skills, research based  strategies . 
Positive relationships would help mentors and mentee to cultivate trust which would shape the culture of the whole school ,and no doubt would lead to success. Mentor should stay non judgmental, compassionate , they should be proactive, they shouldn't wait for their mentees to ask for help. Mentors should focus on their own as well as others' bright spots and strength , so that can make everybody feel empowered and would be able to make a difference . Build a strong relationship both professionally and personally.  The relationship will be the foundation for the journey ahead.
2. Listen!  A good mentor will guide and navigate the mentee to a solution or next step, they don't solve it for them.  Listen to and understand what your mentee needs.  If your not sure ask clarifying questions and listen some more.
3.  Look for the bright spots and learn from them.  When you focus on what's going well other topics of conversation may begin.
4.  Be open-minded and learn with your mentee.  It is a team effort to be the best you can be.
5.  Motivate and inspire your mentee.  Being a good mentor goes beyond guidance and support.  Provide motivation and inspiration to help your mentee to the next level and fulfill their potential.

Build a trusting relationship with your mentee.  A trusting relationship is one where the mentee is willing to be vulnerable and take risks so that they can grow as an educator.
2. Accept that you cannot control everything and along with that, that you cannot fix all of the problems in a day, a month, a year, etc.  Focus on the growth, the journey itself and you'll be amazed at what you see.
3. Know yourself and your own triggers and biases. You are working to help the mentee grow into who they are to become and you must be careful not to let your own biases influence your work with the teacher.  You're not trying to get them to do what you believe, you are working to help them discover what they believe.
4. When in doubt listen, pause, and paraphrase. If you're not sure what to say, just say, "Tell me more about that." This is a self-discovery process that helps build the efficacy and independence of the mentee to grow themselves. Helping the mentee engage in constructive self-reflection is at the heart of coaching.
5. Take care of yourself. Know your purpose in life and in work. That means you have to know who you are very well -- your emotions, social identities, core values, and personality. 
2. Focus on cultivating your own resilience. It will help you manage physical and emotional stressors, enjoy life more, and fulfill your purpose as an educator. Understanding the 12 habits of resilient educators and working daily to develop those habits will help you develop resilient dispositions. 
3. Before you can lead transformational efforts in your school, district, or education as a whole, you have to attend to your own transformation. 
4. Use mentoring language that supports your mentee's growth as an educator. Paraphrasing, clarifying, asking mediational questions, offering non-judgemental responses, and making suggestions can be used to achieve this purpose. 
5. You are not expected to be a mentoring expert. Try your best!
