How:
- In both texts, oppresed groups lacking power is seen to allow dominant groups to seek authority and in the case of both the play and novel, cast racial injustices towards them. 
-> In TLM, young Whitechapel as well as many African people where forced into slavery. Slaves were treated as stock, dehumanising them to gruesome extents. With plantation owners being the "owner of every living soul on it." 
-> The 7SOG explores a similar idea with Aboriginal people being cast as inferiors to the whites. 7SOG:
- Enoch and Mailman embed factual historical injustices faced by the Aboriginal people. The stolen generation, forced removal of land are explored within the play. By doing so, it challenges racism and the struggling relationships by revealing the roots of the ongoing inequality and injustice in the play. 
-The play looks into the pain and guilt experienced by the characters as they confront their own experiences and the historical trauma inflicted on them. By addressing this openly, it allows for the collective recognition of the harm caused by racism and inequality. 
  • “One took a handful of my hair and lead my head to their knee.”
  • “Silenced by a single wave of a stick”
  • “Told not to do what we have always done.”
TLM:
- Chapels decision to run away from the plantation outlines his challenging of the racist and unjust conditions faced by the African slaves. He refuses to accept the dehumanizing treatment and is determined to maintian his dignity by running away. This is seen as his way of challenging the racism and inequality they are subject to.
- Chapel and Lydia's relationship challenges racism by confronting and going against social norms at the time. During the time, white and black relationships were frowned upon with woman who were with African men being labelled as "not ladies"

- Aboriginal people as a community have made the greatest sacrifice, they were forced to sacrifice their land, their culture and lives due to colonisation. 

Examples: 
- The main characters discusses the cultural sacifices made by the Aboriginal people due to colonisation, they lose their land, traditional practises and languages due to the British invasion and the playwrights ensure this factual evidence is intertwined within their play. 
- The play also delves into the personal sacrifices, primarily made by the Aboriginal teenager who died in custody ultimately due to the racial prejudice held against him

TLM:
- Within the novel, sacrifices generally revolve around the context of slavery, the African people are forced to sacrifice their freedom, identity and their lives due to the brutal system of slavery. Likewise, the plantation owners are also seen to sacrifice their humanity and moral values in order to maintain the instituition of slavery. This is evident by Mr Whitechapel who demonstrates his disliking to the brutal realities of slavery.

Examples:
- Whitechapel makes a great sacrifice in accepting and dealing with Chapel not being his own son. Likewise, Cook, makes a huge sacrifice in raising Chapel with pure love regardless of his forced conception, thus outlining the innocence held among those who are oppresed by society

She maintains the courage to address these painful truth, speaking out against the discriminatory nature of the dominant whites.

- Throughout the novel, characters such as Whitechapel display immense courage in their daily lives, they summon the strength and courage to endure the hardships of slavery, including the physical abuse and dehumanization. To continue to deal with this form of injustice requires the greatest courage.
