Love the peanuts reference (just went to see a Charlie Brown christmas play with the family). As I have commented in the other posts, it is imperative that students see the real life connection and authenticity of all we do and you make that very clear early on by having them think about how people try to convince of of something or another all the time. MLK was a master rhetorician. I used at least one of his speeches every year I taught (10 years).

I love the passion you have for the speech since that type of passion is usually very infectious and the kids pick up on it very quickly. I also like the variety of announcers and great rhetoricians you mention.

YAY! Great job. I particularly love the fact that you really explained to "students" the benefits of reading fluency and why it is beneficial! I HIGHLY advise us all to explain everything we do because it solicits and encourages students...its part of  how students construct their knowledge. 

I love the "my mom likes that movie" reference to one of my all time favorite movies!!

Great Job on your video Esther. As you noted, you would use Choral reading in conjunction with other teaching strategies, i.e. for whole class instruction it should be incorporated into your lesson plans.
