This story is focused on Julie’s life and she is a very strong character. She had been through so much and still managed to escape her parents and try to move forward in life. She is very confused and lost sometimes though, especially when she grows up and starts to realize that all the trauma she went through wasn’t normal.

Julie being forced into heart surgery was a huge event in the story because this moment was when Julie spoke out to the doctor saying how she wasn’t actually sick and it was all her mom. They didn’t believe her and continued through the surgery but Julie was very traumatized from this.

Another big event was when Jullie’s house burned down. Her cat was sadly killed and all of her belongings were destroyed. Her and her family had to live in a camper, and Julie was given almost nothing for clothing and food.

The last big event was when Julie found out from her mother that the Parents were the ones who burnt the house down. Julie was furious and so confused on why her own parents would burn their house down. They did it to get money for a divorce and they just wanted the sympathy of other people. Julie realized that both her parents were mentally insane and this is when he knew she had to get away from her mom once and for all.

This story takes place throughout a long period of time. Julie was born May 16th, 1996, and the story goes from the day she was born, all the way until she was about 30 Years old.

This time period affected how Julie was treated in the medical field. Doctor’s back then weren’t aware of the forms of child abuse, so they didn’t undertsand that this was all the mother’s doings. So if this happened in this time, the Doctor’s would probably have caught on and found out that the mother had Munchausen by Proxy.

The main action of the story took place in the family’s double wide trailer house in the middle of the country. This house was very private and nobody was around, which made it extremely difficult to catch the child abuse that had been happening for many years. They lived in this house all the way up until the parents decided to burn it down.

This house greatly impacted the family because they had to live very squished and in a packed environment, especially since they had many foster kids, and veterans living with them at times. The location of it being isolated was the reason the. Parents never got caught with the abuse of their children.

Ethos, Pathos, and Logos

Julie used ethos to develop the purpose of the story because credible doctor’s were the ones who also played the role of letting abuse take place. If they found nothing actually wrong with Julie, they shouldn’t have done any operations on her, and they should have seen the signs of child abuse.

Julie used Pathos towards the end of the story by explaining how she still loved her mom deeply and she even moved back in with her. Julie soon learns that her mom is back to her old ways and Julie chooses to leave again, but this shows the true bond that a family can have even when they hurt each other in unbelievable ways.

Julie used logos by explaining what Munchausen by Proxy was after she found out that that’s what happened to her. She is incredibly shocked when she finds out this is. real thing and she cannot believe that this is what her mother did to her.

This song connects to the book because it explains how there will be better days to come. It is explaining how you will make it through all the bad times, and you will get out of the misery that you are in. It connects to Julie because she was trapped with her mom for so long, and now she was finally able to let go and move on with her new life. She was ready for a reset.
