In 1921, a fishing schooner by the name of The Bluenose was created for not only fishing, but also speed. The ship would then go on to win a huge amount of consecutive races against other boats and win many awards. As the invention of the steam engine made steam powered boats more popular, the Bluenose had to be sold off, and it later sank in 1946. The boat was immortalized into Canadian history and became the image of the dime.
