  • Our goal each day is that students maximize their learning time and strive toward confidence and individual success.  
  • Students should come prepared for learning.  This includes bringing necessary materials (math journal, pencils, homework).  
  • They also must come to class with an alert brain (no late nights!) and a growth mindset (I can't do that...YET!) 
  • 5th grade math moves quickly, with each day's concept building on the next.  Keeping up with assignments is critical. 
  • Avoid being absent unless you are ill.  If you have to be absent longer than a day, have a parent, sibling, or neighbor get your assignments.  I will do everything possible to help you (great notes, video lesson, after school tutoring, etc.)  
  • Show your work ALL THE TIME.  Work should be done neatly in pencil.

    • See your child's MOOSE for daily assignments, as these may change.
    • STUDENTS MUST SHOW THEIR WORK.  If work is on another paper, it needs to be turned in with this assignment.  All concepts have been taught in class.  Encourage independence.  If your child is struggling, have him/her refer to his/her math journal.  The following link will also have many resources  Mrs. Polenz Math Resources Website.  These same concepts will be assessed in class with short check-ups, quizzes, unit tests, and district assessments.
    • Homework is due at the beginning of class.  It is never collected early, so all students should have it in the binder.]
