<title>I believe that focusing on problem solving, reasoning, and discourse as the method to develop understanding of concepts and procedures will lead the change in Social Studies. Problem solving, reasoning, and collaborating with others are skills that transcend Social Studies but are still applicable. Additionally, focusing on the why instead of the what will help students even as they move past our class and into reading through opinions, and news stories, and stances. I also believe that problem solving helps to teach students how to accept failure and how to grow from it. </title>
