The author's purpose of the story is to entertain the reader about Jason's homework missing and how he found it. I know because I learned that informing gives you information, entertaining tells you a stork, and when you persuade you try to make the reader think what you think. Jason's homework tale tells you a story so it's a entertaining story. Also it's fiction most entertaining is fiction.

Always keep track of your homework. If you don't then there can be punishments. You could get lower grades, your teacher can get mad, and you can walk laps or not get treasure box (young kids). If you make lame excuses like my dog ate my homework they might know you are not telling the truth and more punishment for you so always keep track of your homework, or else! Also homework keep's your mind working all day.

The paragraph on the card is nonfiction because it is giving real facts about pufferfish. The authors purpose is to inform you about a type of fish. I know it is to inform because it is giving you facts. The authors purpose helped me decide if the text was nonfiction or fiction because if it was fiction, it would tell you something that is not true and is probably a made up story. If it was nonfiction, it would be real and give you informational facts.

Don't you want a pet pufferfish? I do. You can buy one right now at Pufferfish.com.

The author's purpose is to persuade the reader. I know this because in this story it is trying to tell you to think before you do. I can restate the authors purpose by entertaining you. Covered in dragons blood, the brave knight stumbled into the cave. He could not believe his eyes! Gold! silver, diamonds and other gems glittered in front of him. He was rich!

"Not so fast." said a voice from behind a pile of silver. A young woman emerged with her sword ready. "this is my treasure." But the knight took the gold anyway. The young woman whispered "here's your revenge hahahaheeehe"

The next day the knight woke up to find himself a tiny, fat midgit with a weird face. " ahhhhhhh!" he yelled as he looked at himself in the mirror. So he went back to the cave with the gold and gems but he had to use a wagon. " I know what I have done wrong and I'm sorry," he said to the women. " ok ok I will change you back."

to be continued...

The authors purpose that was to inform you about the puffer fish helped me to decide if the text was fiction or nonfiction because I knew that since the text was giving me facts I knew that it was nonfiction. I also knew that the card was to inform because when you want to write a persuasive piece it wants to try to convince you to do something. If the piece wants to entertain you it tells you a funny story. My card in entertaining purpose would be something like this.

Hannah the puffer-fish was drifting off in class. She wanted school to be over. Her boring teacher named Mrs. Labber was teaching the class of puffer-fish class about their new spelling words. After six hours of boring school the bell rang. School was out! Hannah grabbed her bag and swam out of school.
Hannah didn't go home. She swam to an open area. Just then a shark came out of no where!
