3rd Year Supporting SID!

This will be our 3rd consecutive year supporting the SID campaign. Last year we had a range of experience workshops for our SEN pupils. We had an Online Safety workshop, exploring how we can keep safe online and discussed where we can go for help. We explored different technology devices and understood how to use them safely and independently. We also had workshops for algorithms and a green screen experience. Overall SID is always a positive experience, but is something that is not explicitly explored in one day. We have an active Online Safety committee who meet regularly to discuss online concerns and actively keep staff up to date with training of current trends and risks.

Each year we take part in the social media campaign being promoted by Safer Internet Day. I organise a house competition each year to encourage staff and students to complete that year's template, and count up entries from each house to encourage more participation. We then display the entries in the school and on our social media account - this year you can see a few of the entries on @PrioryLincolnIT on twitter

Pupils from the 1st to the 8th grade looked at four preventive video material about fake presentation on social networks, photos, inappropriate expression and intolerance, and rules and advice for the safer use of interent. Once a year we have a national campaign in all schools that aims to inform students about unsafe online communication and the problems they may have accessing unsafe contents. There is a site that provides teaching resources for both educators and parents. Students may also watch the videos and make conclusions. I have never heard that Safer Internet Day is in February. Next year my students and I will organize activities in this direction.

The Peer Team within the project "School without violence"(higher grades) deals with the activities concerning Online Violence Prevention. School without Violence Team deals with the parent education aiming to prevent online violence.
In our school, there are interactive workshops with parents and higher grade pupils. Lower grade teachers are passive viewers.
Pupils who belong to School Peer Team educate lower grade pupils.

My school participate in Safer Internet Day every year. We have ITC integrated in our curricula and we teach IT with other subjects. Yes I did! every year I invite Mr Roberto Surlinelli that is the most important engeneer from postal police who work on line crimes across Liguria. As a cyberbulling referent in my school I prepare my students as peer educators about on line safety. A group of 8 young students, in according with Surlinelli and a psicologist from local healthy departement, show to their colleagues risks and good practises for corretc use of social network. Last year we organized an evening meeting with parents and teachers. It is a big responsability but it is necessary.

Every year and this school year too, we have partecipated to SID on 6 th February: in my class we have done a dramatization on a real case and then with the use of problem solving ( using setting and posing ) each pupil in group thanks of a short brainstorming has chosen and vote the best way to solve it. Then we have manage a party for celebrating the happy moment and we have seen " Chicken little" the cartton chosen among 10 cartoons as a symbol of this event from SID.

We had an e-safety week at our school. The teachers' team conducted a survey among the pupils and colleagues to find out the amount of time they spend surfing the net every day. The survey shows that the most active internet users at our school are 9th- 11th graders (15-17 aged pupils). They spend 7 hours a day online. The teachers and other adults who took part in the survey spend 3 hours a day online at average.

This is the first year we participated in SID. Our 1st years organised a number of activities. We designed notice boards around the school asking students to post their responses using post-its. We asked students to post their top tip for being safe online; the risks of social media; the apps they use. We also put up a fake profile and asked students to identify ways to make the profile safer for this young person. Finally we put up a noticeboard asking students to pledge against Cyberbullying. It was a good project for our young students.

I've been participating in the SID only for two years. This year, 5th grade students had to analyze a case in groups and then create a script and movie using iPads, after that we did an award ceremony with each group.
4th grade students watched different videos and situations and they "graded" in a thermometer drawing if the case was something that would make them happy or sad if that would happen to them, debate was ignited with each video.

On the occasion of the European event - Safer Internet Day 2018 - which this year has as its theme "Creating and sharing responsibly: a better Internet starts with you", the Secure Internet Center Consortium, of which the Directorate General of Education is part, held a seminar in Braga, on February 6, with two different sessions.
During the morning, from 9:30 a.m. At 1:00 pm, several experts contributed their perspective in the most diverse areas of activity of the Portuguese society (academia, media, psychologists, among other partners), in a session that took place in the Auditorium of the Multimedia Center of the Institute of Education of the University of Minho.
In the afternoon, between 2:15 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., we went to the Instituto Português do Desporto e Juventude (IPDJ). There, we had the opportunity to participate in a discussion session, aimed at young audiences, about the creation and sharing of content on the Internet in a responsible and conscious way, and to attend the presentation of the play "ID, your track in NET 2.0 ", which took place in the IPDJ Auditorium. Participating in this event was an activity within the framework of the etwinning project "Todos contra el acoso escolar".

Things you can do to make surfing on internet safer:
1. Use safe browsers! (Chrome, Edge, Opera etc., but not TOR!)
2. Use a VPN/tracking blocker (these are built-in features in Opera)
