Our wind-down routine :)

Reading before bedtime routine started many years back when my eldest, who is now 12, was just a toddler. It was to help her wind down before bed. Over time, it became our quiet little tradition and as her younger siblings came along, they naturally joined in, curling up with their own books or listening intently to stories being read.

I would like to try out the suggestion by Homewell@FCPS - to try to include a short chat before the reading routine, for instance, “What made you happy today?” I feel that a simple question as such nurtures gratitude by helping them appreciate everyday joys.

My son had difficulties remembering all the things he needs to do and have with him before he leaves the house for school, so we made a checklist for him!

After doing each item on the checklist, he “ticks” them by swiping the switch.. It has saved us a lot of reminders (and nagging) for him as he can independently do all the things we need him to complete before he puts on his shoes outside. 😊

We even customised all the pictures to make it look like his things to create a sense of ownership!
