Providing online content and sessions is a key way of engaging young people during this time of social isolation. These sessions can provide structure to young people’s day while they are not at school or college. It allows vulnerable young people the opportunity to talk with adults and be connected with safeguarding professionals where necessary. Online safety of young people is paramount and the following steps should be taken to promote this: Safeguarding is Safeguarding regardless of whether disclosure happens in person or on a digital platform, the same working practices, and procedures should be followed Staff should create a safe online environment for all young people. This includes ensuring only those who should be in the session are there. It also means that staff should actively moderate sessions so that everyone has a chance to be involved. All digital sessions should take place on approved platforms only. Staff should use equipment supplied by their organisation for the sessions Where a disclosure is made or the staff involved in the session are concerned, they should discuss this with their manager and set up a time to discuss this with the Young Person.
