The first week here in Brighton went pretty well i would say, I managed to make my room more cozy and add little elements to make it feel more like home. This is my first time living abroad by myself so i had to learn how to cook, do laundry and clean my room which i think i managed well. However, with moving abroad not everything will be perfect and there were some challenges that i have already faced: my room faces the entrance of the building where there is a staircase that people often take calls in, late at night when I'm trying to sleep it can get quite noisy and it really disrupts my sleep. With this, I have contacted my accommodation however they said that they couldn't allocate me a new room but suggested that I called the reception if there were people making noise. Nonetheless, Brighton is a really nice place and I'm grateful to be given the opportunity to live and study here

In my opinion, determination, consistency and Hard work are the most important factors in what makes a successful student.

Determination is the willingness to learn, even with good attendance, a student must engage with the lesson and be attentive to achieve good results.

Consistency is another important factor because a student will always do better if they manage their time and revise the content after each lecture compared to a student that rushes all the revision the night before an exam

Hard work also leads to success, no matter how talented an individual is, they will not be as successful without hard work. Hard work is consistency, determination, having good attendance and so much more to make a student successful.

In the Past few months of being in brighton, Ive grown to be a more extroverted and curious person. Meeting people from all over the globe has made me a more open-minded and accepting person, learning about different cultures and their practices. This was especially prevalent during the food sharing during Lacsa, where students brought food from their home countries, communication was vital as I spoke to other students about what food they had brought and how its made.

In an interview, communication is the most vital skill. Being a good communicator requires confidence, eye contact and speaking smoothly without many hesitations. As we did a mock interview today, i realised i needed to do more research about the course at brighton and being more smooth with my communication. My plan moving forward is to be clear about the reasons why i want to study physiotherapy and why at Brighton, being clear without hesitation would allow me to be a better communicator and hopefully help me improve my score in the interview

There was a time when I was talking to a friend about some personal struggles I was going through, and I guess I didn’t express myself as clearly as I thought. They took what I said the wrong way and assumed I was blaming them for my problems, which wasn’t my intention at all. It felt frustrating because I was just looking for support, not for them to feel attacked. It took a bit of explaining to clear things up, and once they understood where I was coming from, things got better, but it definitely showed how easy it is for communication to get lost in translation.
