It showed the world how valuable the Canadian troops were in battle. Although there were more than 24 000 Canadian casualties there were over 440 000 German deaths. its a +1 becuase this battle really helped set the Canadian troops apart from the British empire showcasing them as their own people. The hard lessons on the battlefield proved to be valuable for the Canadians in future engagements. Vimy Ridge was very important to the progression for canada. This victory segmented the thought that Canada was worth enough to become its own country to Canadians at home and overseas.  the Second Battle of Ypres 
 was Canada's first major engagement in ww1. Canadians faced lethal gasses and found a way to overcome it. This battle is what influenced lieutenant colonel John mcCrae  to write In Flanders Fields. This battle is a +2 because not only did we take technological advancements but also gained a symbol of the sacrifices to those who have given their lives for our own.
