General Winfield Scott (1786-1866) He influenced the Manifest destiny by commanding the southern prong of attack. He supervised the removal of Cherokee to indian territory and later he became the first American officer to lead the invasion.
James K. Polk (1795-1849) He was the 11th president of the United States. Polk campaigned on an expansionist platform and vowed not to compromise w/ the British on the dispute over the Northern territory.
