His two friends/neighbors Noodles and Needles have been friends for a long time. There are a lot of events that go on in this book that make you really think. A lot of these questions were answered as you continued reading. I also used schema when reading this book, and I knew some of the students in the high school class made self to text schema. I ended up buying the book and read ahead the class, but I know a lot of these students have gone through or can relate to the main characters in this story.
