Community efforts are being made in order to reach and to take into account these individuals. Latinx people are less likely to get the vaccine compared to their white counterparts.  71%  of Latinx people are likely to get the vaccine where 36% will “definitely get the vaccine”, 35% of Latinx people will “probably get the vaccine”, 8% probably not getting it”, and 18% “definitely not getting the vaccine”. Whereas 73% of White people are likely to get the vaccine, 46% definitely getting it.

However, their efforts came up short due to the fact that a lot of Latinx communities are also pharmacy deserts. These communities may also have independently owned pharmacies which do not have the capacity or availability to administer an adequate amount of vaccines within these communities. 
  • There are also instances in which vaccination sites are placed within these communities but wealthy whites from different areas occupy most of the available appointments. 
  •  Internet access may also be an indicator for low vaccine rates seeing as though scheduling appointments are mostly online.

    Myth Busters & Fact Checks 
    • Due to high exposure to myths within the media regarding COVID -19 and the vaccine, peer educators will address misinformation that may be common to see online. 
    Making vaccine appointments 
    • Peer educators will assist people visiting the van with making vaccination appointments with their iPads for individuals who do not want to get immediately vaccinated 
    Vaccinations
    • There will also be a nurse present to administer  the Johnson and Johnson vaccine for individuals who do want immediate vaccination
